JAMAICA PAPA CURVIN
Jamaica Papa Curvin, actually Curvin Merchant (born in 1943 in Harewood, Jamaica), is a Jamaican reggae musician. He is particularly well-known in Germany and often goes on tour. Papa Curvin is referred to as "Germany's Grandfather of Roots Rock Reggae" because he was already playing reggae music in Germany in the 1970s and founded the Reggae Center in Hamburg in 1975. He used to travel as a ship musician and ended up in Hamburg. In 2005, he won an award at the first Reggaegrammy in Hamburg. In old television recordings, he often appeared as the drummer of the band Boney M. He set up a studio here and released a series of albums. Additionally, he created the X Mas Reggae Show, which took place for the 33rd consecutive year in 2018, where he regularly performed on Christmas Eve with other artists until 2012.
