W.Y. Makes sense though. The point he makes is like ‘smoke’ - when you go to touch on it it becomes harder to grasp, but it’s there. As Jamaican people, we need to have that solidarity that other cultures have. W.Y. You’re not wrong. Sometimes too much analysis makes a simple point get lost.

We have lost our roots because our parents have failed to pass on the culture. Apart from the food what else do we have as children of the Jamaican diaspora?
@mrgavincameron70025 жыл бұрын
My parents were both born in Jamaica and my aunts and uncles too. I think it's more down to the first generation born here (me included) becoming too western than the elders. Let's take the "Front room" for instance. How many people carry on that tradition of having a room that nobody is allowed in unless it's a special occasion? Sounds silly but those are the things we did not cling onto

Ceesix was actually making great points to back up Yardies theory lol! The lack of tradition and continuity of Jamaican culture over here by Jamaicans is where the issues Yardie was pointing out stems from IMO The numbers thing is relative but for every 1 Jamaican that supports their own you will find 5 Nigerians. Generally... Pound for pound they African nations are more supportive than Jamaicans

Have to rate C6 tbh on this point. C6 is logical in his thinking. Ain't a bad thing. I have been told I am North American when I brag with all my heart I am Jamaican on numerous occassions funnilly by Africans.
@mickel46155 жыл бұрын
I get Ceesix's argument bout numbers, and obviously that contributes to it, but it's too simplistic to say the main reason is relative to the numbers. Needed to take more time to hear what WY was saying. Ceesix even supported WY argument when he said that culture comes into play (which is the real reason there's more support) In the UK alone, 2nd and 3rd generation Jamaicans do not identify or support Jamaican culture anywhere near as much as 2nd and 3rd generation people from countries in Africa in terms history and it's identity. That's why even on an individual basis, you'll see and hear more support from an African descendant than you would from a Jamaican descendant. Have to agree with WY on this one. Love the podcast though. Big up yourselves 👊🏾

@TO2ATL5 жыл бұрын
It’s not in/on any continent. It’s an island in the Caribbean Sea. Look at the distance between North America’s land mass to the first island in the Caribbean.
@TheOne-fe8wk5 жыл бұрын
TO2ATL it’s not on any continent 😂😂😂. Of course it is. It’s in North America. And even if it wasn’t, you saying it’s not even close, it’s 1 hour and 55 min flight from Florida. So yeah, it is close. And yeah, it is in North America. However it’s a very different culture of course. Which is why everyone needs to keep this in mind when mentioning Europe or Africa. Just because countries are in the same continent doesn’t mean they are the same. Greece and England both in europe but both different cultures with different histories.
