No Pork for me but Central Market in Plano (northern Texas) has Red Snapper. Red Snapper is very costly but fresh and nice for the most part.

Try the Hong Kong Markets for fish, there is one in Garland, Arlington, there may be a couple others. There is a big Asian Market on the Corner of Jupiter/Beltline in Garland as well, they are real good for fish and other tropical produce, and they will be cheaper than Central Market or Whole Foods- they even clean, lightly season and fry the fish for you...which can be a real time saver if you are in a hurry, all you do is just hook up your escoveitch or brown stew and finish it off at home. Homefood Market in Garland is Nigerian, but they carry goat, fish and yams....not often the yellow though. They also have a bakery which produces a bread that is not unlike Hardo...hope this widens your options.....

It's funny she lives in Texas and her last name is the Capitol of Texas. 😂 Dallas and Houston are huge. Most black and Caribbean people are there. There's also some nice Jamaican restaurants and markets there.

Hi... I met someone from Jamaica, just coming back from the Island and as I do not really see myself leaving there, I am trying to see if she would consider moving here. She is looking to come this year (but wants to avoid too cold - we met once in person in NY in December... very cold 🙂) but I would like her to meet some Jamaicans who have moved into the area. Are there any groups, like meetup groups that do stuff together? She is currently a teacher in Jamaica (currently on leave). I'm in Fort Worth... I'll be even interested in any cross-cultural groups... after all, I'm also a French guy in Texas! Thanks

Annbsure8663@ I am Jamaican living in Arlington and travelled to Irving a lot and I never met a Jamaican in either Arlington or Irving. Where are all the Jamaicans in Texas I hear people keep talking about.

Total cultural tradeoff in Dallas....there are quite a few Jamaicans but very spread out. Not sure if chat is live, but tell her to try Island Spice Groceries, 4043 Trinity Mills Rd, Dallas. A fairly new store, she has everything, pigtail, spices, bammy, bun, bread....everything.Opposite The Island Spot restaurant. Great show Xavier.

Wow! I discovered Island Spice Grocery just about a year ago. I hardly meet any Jamaicans down here but a few Virgin Islanders. The east coasts are filled with Caribbean People.

Where in Dallas has the most Jamaican living? I live in Arlington but I cannot find a Jamaican restaurant here, I have to drive all the way to Irving to find a Jamaican restaurant. I know one is in Arlington called Jamaican Gate but that only have the word Jamaica in it, I don’t think any of the chefs are Jamaicans and the food certainly don’t taste Jamaican. Where in Dallas is real Jamaican restaurant?
