Sao Luis,.....An enclave in Brazil plays only reggae, they do every kind of dance to it, it is so amazing to see how people in Countries like Brazil, Costa Rica, D. Republic etc. respect Jamaicans in comparison to our E.S. Caribbean Brethren, I mean it's really, really mind bugling.

Mr Samuel represents 🇯🇲 Jamaica and Wolmers High Sch very well. Xavier, I appreciate these videos of Jamaicans competing and pursuing different professions all over the world. Jamaica is more than sports and music, although we thank those sectors for their contribution to the national life.

Im from the state he was talking about, Maranhão. Reggae became a part of our culture here. There is no consensus about how we came in contact with reggae music. The most accepted theory is that it came in the 80s throught foreigners in the port of the state's capital, São luis. From there , reggae gained a lot space in São Luís and neerby areas. I grew up listening to a lot o reagge in são luis, as anyone who lives here.

The continent of South America was roughly divided between the two Iberian colonial powers of 🇪🇸 Spain and 🇵🇹 Portugal. The Spanish half would break up into various countries like Ecuador, Columbia etc. The Portuguese area held together as 🇧🇷 Brazil. Later other European powers would chip off parts of the Portuguese northern territory on the Caribbean coast. They formed countries of British Guiana now Guyana, Dutch Guyana (Surinam) and French Guiana. Brazil is Portuguese speaking and has the largest black population living outside of Africa.
