Mashburn was my favorite rookie in '94. He could've been one of the greats if it weren't for injuries. A shame! I'm still a fan! Thanks for posting this video! "Mashburn, and one!"
@xelefonte10 жыл бұрын
I think the most notable thing about Mashburn, forget the fact he was a great on and off the court - never got into criminal trouble like most athletes and never ran into child support divorce settlement or other stereotypical athletes, most importantly the guy was a business whiz. Unlike Magic Johnson, he didn't necessarily quite have the fame and longevity of an NBA career to be as financially successful as he is. But his net worth now at 75 million is UNHEARD of for athletes and it's all due many of his smart savvy decisions in his life. So, besides the fact he was a great athlete, I just have a lot of respect for him as a person.
@lewa95757 жыл бұрын
xele fonte I'm pretty sure only a small minority of athletes ever get into criminal trouble. And I can't even tell you the last athlete I heard of having divorce issues. So what are you talking about?

It’s actually only a few athletes that get into trouble like that. The media highlights them so much when it does happen that people confuse that with the majority which is a common average person thinking mistake Many of the few who are in the biggest popularity spotlight do get into trouble tho

Loved Mashburn. He was at UK when I was ('91-'93) and he was a stud college player. Had a very respectable pro career, as well. I don't know if he was the best UK player ever, but he's certainly in the conversation. I probably liked Monster Mash the best, overall. So many great UK guys though besides him, like Antoine Walker, Tony Delk, Rajon Rondo, etc. Plus, the newer guys like John Wall, Brandon Knight, and DeMarcus Cousins. Like Coach Cal says, this is KENTUCKY. ;)

Not the best UK player ever, but certainly one of the most liked since he was actually a really good guy off the court. I would defiantly say he was the best UK player of the 90's.

What makes it more impressive is that he had Shane Battier guarding him for most of the game, who was one of the best defensive players at the time.

Would've had a HoF career EASY if not for those damn injuries! Mashburn's offensive game reminds me of Mark Aguirre and Glen Rice if those two had their genes spliced together (lol). Just a shame that young Mavs trio of him, Jason Kidd, and Jim Jackson never panned out. They certainly had a lot to offer back then:::sigh:::

@@mrblackstar74 you know some of the could be true. But he did have the ball a lot. I think he couldn't handle being the 3rd wheel. He balled out with the Hornets where he was the main guy. But those Miami Heat training camps and seasons toughened him up. Made him a better player
