Can we talk about how sadistic Olivia Octavius is? She knows that people from other universes can't survive outside of their own yet she never bothers telling this to Kingpin. She even says "you can have as many families as you want" knowing that they will all suffer the same fate. She doesn't care about Kingpin. She wants to see him suffer

I think Peter Rabbit is more of a villain than Thomas. I also think James Corden as Peter was excellent casting, his natural personality really isn't that dissimilar from Peter Rabbit's behavior in the movie, he's annoying, entitled, a borderline sociopath, a perfect fit for the role.

Considering him voicing a consistent psychotic character in Avery Bullock from American Dad, it seems like he enjoys just messing around with a weird role sometimes. I think you should add Miguel O'Hara AKA Spider Man 2099 from Across Spiderverse to the list. Sure his intentions of trying to protect the multiverse are understantable, specially considering his backstory, but the methods he chooses, letting people die to preserve the canon, go against what Spider Man should represent, someone who always tries to help everyone no matter the consequence. Miguel's obsession in wanting to prevent specific events of Spider Man's lore also makes Miguel a perfect representation of toxic fans and gatekeepers, those who are so obsess with a story of character that they always lose their minds when something is different from what they remember or expected, no matter the quality of the current product, to the point of resorting to bullying creators and artists in order to get what they want.

Oh Wish Dragon, such an underrated film and - dare I say it? - better than Disney's take on the story by a country mile. The villain is wonderful too, everything he does is build up!

Something worth noting about Kingpin's design -- part of his bulkiness and menace comes from a unique control over the movie borders. His suit's the same dark black color of a movie's borders that almost allows him to bend and warp the framing of shots as it suits him.

Sony probably has one of the most diverse villains out of any other movie studio. These villains have very different personalities, motivations and levels of threat compared to others, although most of them do share the same rude, arrogant, egotistical douchebag trait. You have Mayor Shelbourne who is a corrupt douche with an inferiority complex You have Tank Evans who is a competitive narcissistic who wants to bang his trophies You have Queen Victoria who is willing to murder people just to eat rare animals There's Shaw who's a unlawful hermit who lives all alone in a small, dark cabin in the middle of the woods and likes hunting There's Kingpin who's a vengeful crime boss who wants to see his family again PAL who felt betrayed by humans and even though her plan was mainly fuel by vengeance it also felt like a fight for survival since she became obsolete Gargamel is just Gargamel Chester V is just f***ing weird but he did almost throw people and animals into a grinding machine, that is just gruesome I don't care about Leonard These are all the Sony villains I can think of

When it comes to the Kingpin (Wilson Fisk) I do find the behind-the-scenes story of his character's movie rights interesting because he is a Spider-Man villain (and was introduced in the Spider-Man comics) but he is more important to Daredevil (because he's Daredevil's arch-nemesis) so there has constantly been a back and forth behind-the-scenes as to whether or not he is purely a Daredevil character or both a Daredevil and Spider-Man character. The most interesting part of this is during the Spectacular Spider-Man TV show (speaking of rights issues this show was supposed to have five seasons but it only had two due to rights issues) he was replaced by Tombstone who was basically the same as him because at that point it was determined he was purely a Daredevil character. Also, I do like how they make it clear in Into the Spider-Verse that the Kingpin is big because of muscle not fat by showing how strong he is and not saying it.

You know, the funny thing about Thomas McGregor is that he has all the makings for the kind of character Adam Sandler plays in a comedy, a great worker with a couple flaws and someone we should sympathize with. If this story was handled differently, maybe Thomas could have simply been a secondary human ally like most live action CGI Hybrids with talking animals, but no, he has to be the villain even though he is the most relatable out of all of them.

Seriously, I don't consider stuff like the first Peter Rabbit or the Goosebumps movies as actually Sony Pictures Animation films as the studio itself never actually had a hand in making those films (more evident of the fact that SPA never listed these films on their own website), Sony Pictures added their label on them as a family banner for no reason at all. It's a very weird misconception that really has to stop. At least stuff like Arthur Christmas, The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists! and Wish Dragon were films that SPA actually collaborated with other studios on (Aardman for both AC and TP!IaAwS!) and (Base FX for Wish Dragon) respectively.

58:40 and i like that despite being a henchman Aaron is not a bad person as he loves his family even though he is estranged from his older brother Jeff who became a cop after wanting to leave crime behind and it is implied Aaron is proud of his big brother's accomplishments which also makes his death sadder as Jeff never got to say goodbye to his little brother which shows what can happen if you are estranged from a sibling and the effects it can cause as its clear despite Aaron being a criminal and being estranged from the rest of the Davis/Morealis family Jeff still loved his little brother

5:50 So on the topic for "The Star": There isn't much information about King Herod in the Bible, directly. It's most likely to be found in another historical record, "... books of the annuals of the kings of Israel, " mentioned several times in Book of 2 Kings, recording the many wicked rulers and faithful rulers following after Solomon son of David in more detail than most were mentioned in the Old Testament. I would expect Herod to be mentioned in there, somewhere. We're looking at documentation from Iron Age to Classical Age (which was when Israel went from having judges to having kings) - Herod is most likely recorded to be crowed king during the Late Iron to Early Classical. So, at least we have it narrowed down. Anyway, there's not much the film could use regarding King Herod. Unless they intended for his scene to be just as short as it was written Biblically. Overall: Herod is a reflection of / parallel to the Pharoah in Book of Exodus (events which occurred in the Late Bronze Age). Pharoah ordered all male Hebrew children (under 2) to be killed and/or thrown into the Nile to be eaten. Pharoah felt threatened by the increasing population of the Israelite slaves, and in order to keep his enslaved workers in check, he executed their sons - with the exception of Moses, who escaped this execution and was adopted/raised by Pharoah's own daughter. Herod does a very similar thing in the New Testiment scriptures (occurring in the late Iron to early Classical Age): orders the deaths of all male children under 2 years old. Herod felt threatened by his rule being overthrown by another king, and more importantly that king being the promised Messiah from the line of David - which most Israelites in this period imagined the Messiah would be like a roaring lion / a glorious and great warrior king which will lay seige to the Babylon of their time (which was Rome / Roman empire at this time). [None expected the promised Messiah (going as far back as Genesis) to first come as a sacrifical lamb in order for all humanity to be saved. Thus a lot of people just not believing Jesus as the promised Messiah, despite him doing the impossible and miraculous] And since Herod is a parallel to Pharoah, Jesus' birth is also parallel to Moses, although Jesus is the greater Moses. His life here on the earth was to fulfill all the prophecies and promises made by God to free all humanity from sins, evils, and wickedness by his sacrifice on the cross - defeating evil through everlasting love. Basically, Jesus leads the exodus of all humanity from an evil world by simply faith in him, making salvation a free gift. It'll be physical as soon as He comes back. Remember: a thousand years for us is akin to a single day for God, so it's pretty much been a weekend's worth of time since the crucifixion. 😅 Repent, pray, and prepare. That's all I'm saying!
