I personally read Mitch trying to protect his little brother from being weird as being from experience. He's the ideal American Boy, but he has one trait that in a town like theirs probably wouldn't go down well. It could be the reason he strived to be the ideal American Boy in the first place, as a safeguard or disguise (though he could just genuinely enjoy sports and being popular). For all we know, his statement to Courtney might have been the first time he felt able to publicly mention it, after everything the township learned that night.

The interesting things with the Agatha & Norman dynamic is that they're both related. Turns out prenderghast was Norman's mom maiden name till she married Norman's dad and took the Babcock name. Also, if Norman didn't find friends and support he could've become like agatha.

One thing’s for sure, Susan is definitely the first Laika protagonist that isn’t a child, as the previous films had kid protagonists. But poor Other Wybie’s forced stitched smile scared the shit out of me when I first saw Coraline in the cinema, even though I was 15, going on 16 a few months later at the time. Why the real Wybie didn’t come with Coraline to the other world, I’ll never know, unless he was scared. Funny how Mitch is gay, though. Plus the cat waking up Coraline reminds me of my cat waking purring in my face in the middle of the night, or early hours in the morning.

I used to love the Paranorman movie [and I related to Norman], but after watching Claydream and learning what Phil and Travis Knight did to Will Vinton, I've made the decision to never watch any Laika movies ever again. I hope Jamareeqi ranks Will Vinton Heroes and Villians and side characters one day.
