I agree that all of this is extremely important to teach young boys. But there's a danger to it if it's the only perspective you ever talk about. I grew up as a straight guy. Pretty normal by most standards. Most importantly though, I have a very soft character AND I grew up around mostly women. My mom was a single mom and the people I was around mostly were aunts, and grandmother. Most people would assume that I had a perfect recipe to grow up respecting women. The problem is it went way past respect all the way to where I grew up putting women on a pedestal. I had this idea pounded into my head that women would be into "nice guys" and I heard plenty of stories of all the men that wronged the women in my life. Well trust me. This was not a well rounded way to teach a young boy how to treat women. I was a decent looking teenager and I had an impossible time finding relationships cause women never responded to the way I approached them romantically. My first relationship was at 19. It took me years and heartache and pain to realize that people in general (not only women) do not want only "nice". They value excitement and drama over nice 99% of the time. I won't even get to how I was treated by many women since they were always dominant by nature because of my upbringing and my natural character.. I always ended with controlling women because sticking up for myself went against the pedestal rules in my mind. By all means, teach your boys that respect and consent and all that stuff is important. But teach them to be themselves and be nice to EVERYONE. Because being nice to others on top of being your exciting and interesting self is an extremely attractive character trait. And teach your daughters that excitement and edgy men increases the chances that they'll treat you poorly. Teach both boys and girls that actions speak louder then words. Exciting people must also treat you nicely in their actions. I think we should teach both genders the same thing most of the time. As many perspectives as possible. And teach gender specific issues on top to round out. To both genders also. Anyway, There's way more to this then I can put in a comment section. TLDR: Teach your kids respect to others and to be themselves. Wether it's a boy or a girl. Women aren't all innocent either.

@giornogiovanni56554 жыл бұрын
Can you explain which patriarchal institution you are referring to? Young boys and men are also belittled and rejected by feminists for showing their sensitivity and they won't view them as potential life partners, just allies - slaves to a cause that doesn't value them and blames them for everything that is wrong in society. To gain acceptance by giving up your free will to another ideology that doesn't practice the equality it teaches is pointless. Many men aren't scared of strong women and don't oppose equality. They oppose the angry, entitled hypocrisy that many feminists embody in the U.S., as well as the constant complaining and score-keeping that many do. They express more joy in the demise and downfall of people they dislike more than they express the joie de vie from living - living in a time when women have made tremendous progress over the last 100 years. The fact that there is more work to be done, doesn't mean it has to be a dreary, joyless endeavor.

All the love for Jameela and this movement and, in that spirit, I would like to ask a question and hopefully receive some understanding from the women who might read this that I only seek to better understand. I found no issue with anything that was said in this speech but there was something I don't think I understood well. When speaking of how men have been afraid of women since basically the beginning of time (an observation I don't completely disagree with) it sounded a little as though she suggested that all men are good for is reproduction. What did I miss?
@neelc3174 жыл бұрын
it's a retaliation against this idea and conditioning that women receive over the years that all they are good for is birthing babies and that should be the end goal for us. And she said it in a sense that this fear of women being self-sufficient and only needing men to have children'' came from men, they became insecure and wanted to be the ones in control when all women have ever wanted is equality.
@YasaminRajabloo4 жыл бұрын
She said that's what men believed and the reason they decided to control women(thousands of years ago).she wants men and women to be equal partners and to break free from the patriarchal ideas and be loving and respectful,the way that would benefit all of us.

Most of the mommas boys I know who are gentlemen are getting walked on right now in our 20s, then when you finally decide to throw in the towel in your early 30s because biology is screaming at your ovaries you will settle for less in your point of view for that mommas boy you never gave the time of day to, gross behavior, toxic femininity

What, a man hating B. You want to be like someone, be yourself; and that will take trial and error; and society will only remember your errors.

This isn't about you its about men. Not women. This exactly female supremacy

@@smartass0124 So does she now not even have the right to comment on things? No. It isn't only about men. Women RAISE men. Women shape men in ways that are integral to their development. Female supremacy? What does that even mean when it comes to what she opined on? The conversation is for everybody to have. You, my friend, have completely missed the point of the video.

I'd love contributing a transcription/translation to share this video with my Spanish-speaking family. Any chance you could open community contributions?

Ik this reply is late but if you still want your family to know about this video, i have an idea. There are websites that can download subtitles from youtube in text format. Then you can google translate it and send it as an article to your family. It won't even take more than a minute. But they'll have to read this as an article only. Second idea is you can download this video using third party downloaders and use above text file as an srt to see subtitles manually along with video. I hope this helps!

Feminism is great - god knows the way woman have been treated was/is not okay. But it isn't a war between the sexes. I don't want men to become versions of woman. Masculinity is important. Femininity is important. I feel uneasy with the vibe going on these days that seems to want to homogenise the sexes. Male and female have so much to offer each other and we need each other.
