I seriously think Shinobi 3 doesn't get the praise it deserves enough. The game considering its 16 bits, nailed nearly every category: Fun factor, GREAT music and sound effects, easy controls, great character designs, stages, stage ambience, special effects, and a good ending!!

I don't want to brag (I'm not a show off), but I have memorized the entire game and I can end it not losing lives and not using magic, but I never managed to end it with no damage at all (but got close). As you said, it is just a matter of memorizing the patterns. One quick advice, you guys never use "block", if you shoot a shuriken and don't let the button go, he will get into defence mode and can block projectiles.

How...? "Of all time."? The newest God of War? Nier: Automata? Sekiro Shadows Die Twice? Valkyria Chronicles 3? Just to offer a few. I love AVGN and no doubt the classic games can be fun, but they just can't compare to the compelling story telling and gripping gameplay of many modern games. The games I was drawn to as a child(ish) were Sonic, Mario, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Jack and Daxter but those games are absolute pebbles compared to the monuments of modern games. You would have to be living in a cave for these games to be your favorite. Basically, if you haven't kept up with any modern games then, sure, games like that can be your favorite. But if you have played any of the aforementioned games how do you possibly believe old school holds a candlelight to nowadays?
@rodrigocaceres2879
@rodrigocaceres2879 5 жыл бұрын
@@spin.chicken I think you don't understand that people have different preferences. Also, in terms of gameplay, you have no idea of what you are talking about. More complex games with more mechanics and better graphics don't mean better gameplay. For example, if we look at Metroid, by your logic everyone would think that the Prime games are better than Super Metroid, which isn't the case. To this day, Super Metroid is considered one of the best games of all time. Is Mass Effect Andromeda considered better than the original trilogy? No. I do agree that games have improved and that many are blinded by nostalgia, but if you only depend on the newest, more advanced games... I think you are the one missing out. I do love many new games and many others are regarded as my favourite, but there's also many games from more than a decade ago that are among my favourites and that no new game or entry in the series has been able to entertain me as much as those. I don't want to be rude but it really is a simple concept, and it baffles me that some people have so much difficulty to understand. Also, I played God of War and it's a great game, but I really didn't find it as appealing a others did. I enjoyed it, but I enjoy this game (Shinobi 3) more and have replayed it many times on my 3DS. Sometimes games simply don't click with you and you find more entertainment in something more simple. It doesn't make my opinion right or wrong, just different from yours.

Great game, but I still like The Revenge of Shinobi more. Better level design, more interesting bosses, and a killer soundtrack by Yuzo Koshiro. The only part of that game I don't like is the last level maze part. I can never remember which way to go and get stuck for hours.

To be fair, the blocking is very cryptic and only useful in very specific points. Mainly just against Mecha Godzilla and the final boss.

I think Mike almost told James how to block but forgot. For anyone that picks this game up hold the attack (B) to block. Yes you use a kunai or kunai/sword slash to trigger the blocking animation but keep holding it and you walk, crouch walk while blocking attacks. A useful example is against the samurai in round one. Instead of timing a jump over the slash wave you can just crouch and block, absorbing all the damage. Oh and to get those boxes attached to walls hanging above death pits just jump on them, crouch, attack (triggers the low kick breaking the box) and as soon as the Shinobi touches the item wall jump off.

In the cartoon I vaguely remember an episode where Krang cloned himself and the clones (Krangazoids?) kinda looked like Lizalfos from Zelda. So that would be consistent with the game.
