Does he ever talk about making a character model/reference sheet? As in those character design drawings and notes that explain how to draw a character so there's perfect continuity between shots and artists? James Baxter is cool.

That is TVPaint, but it is *VERY COSTLY* in rent. Its nearest *FREE* open-source alternative is *Krita,* which has some great tools like Cage Deform. You can download it for free at its official website. I had tried TVPaint and hated it. I love Krita for great many things. When you have Krita, you can actually upload Photoshop brushes directly into it. You can find custom PS brushes at Brusheezy and Deviantart. Check out also hundreds of Krita brushes at DeviantArt and hoses too. I use Krita alongside MyPaint, Gimp, Inkscape, Opentoonz, Blender, DragonBones, Synfig, etc. These too are FREE to download from their official websites. If you are interested in affordable softwares for animation, there is Moho Pro as the best alternative to Adobe Animate and ToonBoom Harmony. Another is Cacani, great with tweening tools, useful for pencil tests. TVPaint is only raster-based, while Krita lets you do both raster and vector drawings. That is not all, Krita recognises native file formats from other free open-source softwares. In working layers, you can work back and forth between Krita and MyPaint (or Gimp), if you stick to ORA format for importing and exporting. ORA keeps your layers intact. In MyPaint, you can use your favourite realistic pencils and inks. In Gimp, your favourite filters and VFX. Back to Krita, import file and see how layers look.

@@pinklady7184 If you prefer a certain software (like Krita) why not focus on singing it's praises and showing what can be done with it instead of putting down other software ? So you _"hated"_ TVPaint ... well, what can anyone really say to that ? That's _your experience_ ,no arguing with that I suppose. (but , wow, _hate_ is such a _toxic_ word ... really ?) Many top animation professionals (such as James Baxter and Aaron Blaise) prefer TVPaint (and others prefer Harmony) and we can see the animation done using TVPaint and Harmony. The outstanding animation projects made using TVPaint and Harmony are well known. So maybe you could share with us what are your favorite animated films made using Krita ? Any professional animation studios using Krita in their animation production pipeline? I would really like to know.
