What I really like about James is he's done his apprenticeship, just like Ed Sheeran. Busking, tiny pubs and clubs, night after night, sometimes to just a handful of people, but he stuck at it and now he's reaping the rewards. I've nothing against X Factor type fame, but James' class will win and go the distance every time.

yeah, his vocals, guitar and song writing skills and stage presence are fucking amazing! It's a shame that Shawn Mendes has more recognition and praise than him....In all honesty Mendes only got super famous due to his good looks which hides his mediocre songs and guitar skills. Also, James is a damn good looking guy too! So that's a bonus! (no homo)

I don't agree with this. Some X-factor (and other singing competitions) competitors have also paid their dues and have the talent to show for it. Personally, I've always felt like they should increase the minimum age to atleast 21 for those shows

Funny how 2 years ago people hated him for changing his sound and image and now they're saying he's hot with the short hair and he should cut it again 😂. James is a talented man and that will never change.

It wasn’t so much the hair… he looks great with any hair. It was the complete change of image and sound. He was almost drowned out by the band. A voice like James’s is too good for that. He does not have a schreechy pub rock voice, like Aussie Jimmy Barnes, so it did not work well. An artist needs to explore and keep developing but this was a very sudden change and not one which particularly suited him from a vocal point of view. The thing that makes James Bay’s voice so unique and irresistible is the soul, cry and break in it. Same could be said for James Morrison. Their voices have a softer quality.

This is such a great live performance. The performance of Hold Back the River was tops, he should let his background singers take control of the singing like that on the song more often. Great sound balance. I think I like this pairing of his background singers the most.
