Devo played at this festival when they were doing their "DOVE, The Band of Love" shtick (basically a Devo set slightly rearranged to sound like a Christian rock band). They took parts of this song and sang Bob Dylan's "Gotta Serve Somebody" over it at a New Year's Eve show a few months later.

I`ve never heard about James Chance in Eastern Europe. Well, my mother knew about Charlie MIngus and I like his music very very much but James Chance (unlike Johnny Cash) was not known here. It surprises me he did not become as famous as Freddie Mercury, I mean an international artist, any arse from different parts of the world might know about Freddie Mercury or might have heard some of his songs. Led Zeppelin and The Doors were more well-known (but not always heard, so to say). I am glad I found one of his songs by chance (so to say) and from that day on I`ve always felt wonderful listening to his music!

My uncle, who had a little antique shop in his later years, left me his record collection as we'd talked about music a lot and he knew I was big into underground/experimental stuff, along with tons of music made before I was born. Anyway - I was pretty shocked when I saw an original pressing of "Buy" in there. Thanks for leaving me your records, uncle.
