I really don’t think he’s lip syncing, because that was a very lackluster performance full of flat notes and bad breathing. You can tell his shallow breath in the audio matches his body language. The crazy gestures are just the way he is... so yea, I’m 90% sure he wasn’t lip syncing because the performance would’ve sounded better then.

Morgan Houchins yes that’s generally how it’ll work: sometimes when artists do “live” shows they’ll record backing vocals that sound different than the studio version (more raw) but still are on pitch and unaffected by movement obviously. However, James’ vocals in this are so bad (I mean, is he a terrible singer? No by no means, he just has really bad technique) I just don’t believe that anyone wouldn’t have told him if he went to his staff like “I’m gonna lip sync to this” and no one said to him “if you’re gonna lip sync at least make it sound good”... like his breath is all wrong, his voice cracks, that “low” note is messed up and his runs are very sloppy. This is live, I’m quite sure. Additionally though, the venue doesn’t seem that big, so if he was lip syncing you could tell very fast because of the sound. I don’t think even he would be so stupid as to try and do that.
