I'm 29 and grew up Baptist in Mississippi.. These songs bringing sooo many memories.. We don't sing songs like this any more. Unless you find a very traditional church.

My father told me he was there for this. He told me that's the late Rev. Donald Vails on the organ. He also said they weren't suppose to record this but they were changing the tape or something between recording sessions and Rev. Cleveland decided to sing some songs in between and this recording came from that

Correction" 1972 was the year it was in Los Angeles. Usually if a convention takes place summer of a year, the record album comes out the following year.

today is September 7,the 2016 I'm wondering where on this earth (especially in California) where I can find a church, and choir along with a matching service such as this??? oh, I know where... nowhere, that's where, and it's an absolute pity and a shame, most black churches here just put on "shows" and the preachers are like character actors in a phony reality show! No anointing whatsoever, just showmanship, and prosperity sermons, and let's not forget fundraising!

Gospel music is not what it used to be, or rather it is not sung much in the black church anymore. A lot of black churches have take the "soul" out of the music. Some Christians will say, "I don't listen to gospel music anymore nor do I sing it. I listen to and sing, 'Christian' music." Many of these churches have removed the (baby) grand pianos, Hammond organs, and tambourines and replaced them with stacks and stacks of loud, sound-barrier-breaking keyboard synthesizers. Services are sounding more like "Woodstock" rock concerts, night clubs, and some of their soprano soloists are sounding like Disney cartoon characters.
