Pistol Pete is now officially my favorite player of all time. He was pushed into a sport by his father and took it all the way. He became a Christian after all the emptiness of money and fame. He was genuine and was not afraid to tell others about Jesus. Then God said come on home at the early age of 40. What a story.

Beautifully said! He was a class act all the way! I was a young boy and he was my favorite player, I had the floppy socks, the long hair, and I lived with a basketball. Now I live with the lord! Thank you for the kind words about Pete!

Yes, your absolutely right. When this life of mine passes and I go home, I'll be looking for Pete, to tell him how much this inspired and convicted my heart and many, many others.

that dick ,Bill Fitch drove him out of BOSTON when he was (physically and mentally) ready to win his only possible world title w/ the greatest dynasty in sport. BONNIE & CLYDE is my favorite film. I was barely 11 yrs. old, when it blew my mind .no ratings system. no film before it was that graphically violent and sexually frank.

There has been very few people on this earth that i wanted to be but Pete Maravich was right at the top of the list! I want to thank Jesus for not giving up on Pete and for Pete not giving up on Jesus and by God's holy grace I pray that one day I will be able to meet Pete in Heaven and share my love of Jesus with Him. I loved Pete Maravich as the basketball player but most of all I am super ecstatic that He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior! What made Pete truly great for all the ages was when he asked Jesus into his heart!

I did not know he was a Christian until I hit this video and he makes a great witness, testimony for Jesus Christ.

This is a powerful witness for our Lord and Savior. I coached basketball for over 40 years and watched him as a player at LSU then into the NBA. He endured much, yet he never gave up, gave way or gave in. He endured until he asked Christ into his heart. Pete spoke the truth on this night and a short time later God called him home. In truth Pete's life was a miracle, born with one corenary artery. God had a purpose for Pete, l find peace in hearing peace in Pete's voice.

There is nothing powerful about it. In fact, it's quite sad that he turned to ancient superstition. He was a sad guy, and knew little of the world outside of the game he'd played all his life.

@@BBAKER22 *"WHY are you SO ANGRY?"* I LOVE that one! We hear it *all the time.* Criticize an ancient superstition and you must be ANGRY. Now, of course, there's *nothing wrong* with being angry at how gullible people are, or how much damage superstitions have caused, but the idea that we're somehow any more "angry" than anyone else who opposes bad ideas is simply ludicrous. Won't stop believers from saying it, though.

He was an amazing player, but a sad and very confused guy, which is why he turned to superstition late in his life. It's unfortunately all too common, as most of the comments here show.
