Coincidences, coincidences. I just watched the (superb) 4K disk of The Mask of Zorro yesterday. Great timing and great extended edit. The movie was, of course, a vastly entertaining look back at a time when they knew what they were doing in Hollywood: Great actors, great action, great cinematography and great music by James Horner.

What's the difference between the extended edition and the theatrical cut, like how many new scenes are added?

Sorry, my bad. I meant the extented theme by Gilles Nuytens, “edit” would have been the better word. As far as I know there is no longer version of the movie. The added bonus of the 4K disk that I watched lately (the 2023 steelbook edition) was the Dolby Vision grading. The standard edition released in 2020 was HDR10 only. The film was to be directed by Steven Spielberg himself (who, however, produces) with Andy Garcia in the role of the "fox"; and Robert Rodriguez began filming it, having fled (or kicked out?) from the set after a few days. It ended up in the hands of Bondian Martin Campbell ("Goldeneye") who, humbly, placed himself at the disposal of a very athletic Antonio Banderas and the usually immense Anthony Hopkins. Saber slashes, sexy moods, fragments of spaghetti westerns and the bright colors of Mexico. Actors considered for the role of Don Diego included Sean Connery and Alain Delon. Eléna is considered a source of inspiration for a female Zorro TV series, still in development. A first attempt at adaptation occurred in the early 2000s with a single season of "Queen Of Swords". PS: My main commitments take place on Saturday, Sunday, Monday or Tuesday. That's why I don't come to your channel right away.

Thanks for your review and comment. I remember having seen this movie back then. There was a sequel in 2005 but I'm not sure to have seen it or not. Can't remember at all. The music though is almost identical, at least the main theme is the same.
