That looks like a move that'll come more naturally to your body if you practise it enough. My climbing coach have us practise these awkward moves sometimes that don't really test your strength, but rather flexibility, quick coordination and balance. Some moves are difficult because we've never had to physically move in that specific way before in our lives, but awkward moves can be executed gracefully and efficiently if you only dedicate time and practise to versatile movement.

Yes, I agree 100% And that repertoire of movement patterns is what makes some of the famous climbers excel. They've climbed so much and in so many different environments that their bodies and minds know how to move in almost every scenario. That's why climbing in different places, with different partners and trying moves that make us feel clumsy is so important to get better.

i didnt know a dynamic start like that would be accepted?
@OnBouldering7 жыл бұрын
Starting like that is valid, there's no need to show control of the starting holds. Just to touch them all at the same time before you do any other move.

@@OnBouldering In the new 2018 rules there is a specific mention of having "controlled the starting hand holds before using any other holds". Does that mean the start in the video would no longer be accepted?

@@BradFinley Correct, this season starting the problem like that wouldn't be accepted.
