I believe, I have attended more than fifty Live concerts with James Last since his first in Denmark late sixties, and I was there for the very Last evening i Cologne. These two nights i Albert Hall were the TOP ! Never have the band given such a great concert !! Still love tem all !

I can't believe I only found James Last at the age of 40 this year. So much catching up to do. My 16 year old self is so cross he missed out on this back in the 90s, lying in bed until the small houses listening to ABBA on loop on my cassette Walkman (I didn't get into CDs until the 00s)

Der Sound ist super, die Tonabnahme direkt am Instrument lässt die trumpets etwas trockener (auch übrigens bei der Studioaufnahme dieser Songs) klingen. Früher wurde mehr Hall eingesetzt.

I must say that I had never heard of James Last till today, A shame really because this is Fantastic. Is he more like a German version of Lawrence Welk and His Orchestra or Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops or a combination of the two.

As an orchestra leader during performance, James Last didn't do much....did I miss something? BTW I always loved the music - fabulous arrangements!

He arranged every note before and prepared master tapes for all sections, so the drummer had the click and every musician had their tape to stay in timing, that‘s why conducting was not necessary. Lead trumpeter Jan Oosthof explained that in an interview.
