When I hear this song it makes me cry because it always makes me think about my dad who died over 30 years ago and I still miss him to this very day. I know that one day I will be with him again and I can’t wait to see him and run up to him and give him a cuddle and tell him how much I’ve missed him over the years. I grew up in a semi farmer household in a small country in Europe. We lived in a city but we had huge land in countryside which my father always tended and nurtured in memory of his father and the fact that that land gave him and his sisters food,education and life.I spent countless days helping my dad tending and taking care of the land and our animals. We have a huge Mulberry tree in front off our house in countryside where we used to take breaks under its magnificent shade. He left us young and without warning. I moved to use USA when i was 24.I couldn’t even be there for his funeral because he died when Covid happened and travel was banned in USA in the moment. But every time i hear this song,i close my eyes and i am there in a second. We sit under Mulberry tree,we laugh,we argue,we plan the rest of the day,its as real as when i was a kidd. Thats the power of music and this song. ❤️

I first heard it in the Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill. I thought it was piece from a Spaghetti Western score but it's actually a stand alone song composed and performed by James Last. It has one of the most beautiful and cathartic melodies I've ever heard. You get this sense of sadness and loneliness that is aware of itself but is accepting, perhaps grateful, for the life it had. It's like the song that represents reflection, acceptance, satisfaction, and finally peaceful rest. I cry almost every time I hear it. (Edit: I was wrong, James Last did not create this. It was Gheorghe Zamfir. Both ultimately contributed to it so I’m keeping this the way that it is.)
