I have a question - why is the band director allowed to walk around up front and direct the band, telling them when to get loud, crescendo, etc? He was the only director doing this. When I was in band this wasn't allowed. Once the band is on the field for competition the director's job is done. It's up to the drum majors to direct the band and do their job. I saw them in competition tonight and they are really good. Just wondered why this is allowed?

@@jonathanchavez9948 - My daughter who was with me told me that she talked to another mom who has a child in band and she's been to a lot of competitions where James Madison HS competed and she said the director did this at every single one during semis and finals. The other directors were also doing it but not as bad as the one guy walking back & forth. That should not be allowed at all. I saw NO other directors doing it during the competitions that I attended. I was in band myself and our directors weren't allowed to do that.

@@MLMLWas someone who is in the james madison colorguard, he is just there to observe its really not that deep. he never says anything beyond a good job band at the end if the preformance. the judges are aware and dont care

@@MLMLWYes, I’m also in the James Madison band and our job is to pay attention to the drum majors, our director gets very passionate and it’s sortve his way of expressing his excitement, but he has always told us to keep our eyes on the drum majors so he does not effect what we do on the field during performances at all
