James has such presence, I always gets sucked in, even when it's a quiet scene like this.

Ok, I actually love that movie. Everyone is saying that it sucked, but I loved it. I cry everytime I watch it, and James, Harry and Gerard are so freakin' GORGEOUS in the movie.

I agree with everyone who's said that this scene should've been in the movie! It was so touching and so simple at the same time. I love the movie anyway, but this little bit about Gerry and John's friendship would've been amazing to watch. James Marsters is an incredible actor. He makes the simplest lines so emotionally powerful. (e.g. "P.S. I told you I'd keep my promise)

Watched this movie way before I knew about James Marsters. Never did watch Buffy when it aired. It's one of my friends' favorite movies and truth be told, I don't get it why so many people seem to dislike or even hate it. It's a lovely movie, really. Sentimental, romantic, sad but all in all a lovely movie. Were the people disliking it expecting it to be anything else and why? Anyway, I wouldn't have minded if this deleted scene had been in it - they all act beautifully and not over the top.

WHY DID THEY DELETE THAT??? Oh, my God. Not only was that an important statement as to the character of Gerry (Jerry?), but it also gave James the opportunity to shine through, even though he was a supporting role! Okay, maybe that's why they cut it. :(
@freshnessbeyond11 жыл бұрын
They shluldve include this in. It brought tears like omg. John played a big role in the book for being Gerrys bestfriend. Even the script that John said was the same as what it is in the book and im disappointed this was cut off. I didnt know John was his bestfriend until i read the book. So sad, John has a big role here

I love this scene, it's so real, between Johnny D. his bff Jerry's wife. My last Bff, they'll never be another one- like Jerry. The guitar💓man, the silly letter. Too bad this pivotal scene was deleted. 💔James, only added nuances to the scenes he was allowed to be seen in. Director sadly decided John wasn't as important, as other characters in the film?? what a bad joke. We as the audience, wouldn't have known that they we're naming their baby after Jerry too. That's horrible because we don't have a back story on John, his wife, much of anything else, Cept the little scenes we got to see James in. Bad call director, what's his name. James professor Fine, had more heart. Wait for it- Spike/William. I miss James, & hearing what this director did for time, was appaling. PS I love you, could have been even better with those deleted scenes, especially James, he makes Jerry's absence more fond, Sincere, mean even more. A truly versitle actor, James deserved better than that. Maybe with the enriched Cast, the flick would have got an Emmy? I'm just ranting, but I believe James has earned one, two, three- by now. Robbed on Buffy by The West Wing?! Uggh, like James, I can't stand Holiweirds politics. Fake acting! So sad, disgusting , when a real actor, is left to the cutting room floor, due to time. 🤦🏻♂️🎬💔 When is it his? He's certainly deserving. 🌆🤦🏻♂️🤛🏼🏝️🤡🤑💥💔poor guy was robbed before he got to Holliweird. It's time to make up for the BS he will accept, for such an amazing Opportunity. He feels he was presented with. 🤦🏻♂️💸🎞️🎞️📽️✂️🗑️🤛🏼🎭✌🏻 I love James M. Time he gets recognized for his hard work. 💓✨🎬 🤟🏼💓👼🏻🤦🏻♂️Geeze, James is just too Humble... I want Spike to come out & tell everyone who slighted him to F-off!✌🏻 But, then WE would be robbed, of him as a Fangtastic Actor I haven't seen him at Sag awards, but he should have been, because it's Actors giving the shout out to their peers. ✨💓✨James Marsters, is better then most there. James Brava! This scene, made me like the film ever more. Listen up Directors, you really should be so lucky to have an Actor as lovely as James Marsters, 🧑🏻In your Casts. ✌🏻🎬🤛🏼💔 But I doubt you can handle a real, or sincere preformance, out of your self centered idiots, you do decide to hire, instead, younger doesn't mean Better. James is a truly amazing person ❤️they broke the mold on James Marsters, you won't find many true actors like him, loyal, & dedicated, & so amazing... 🥀🎭🥀🎬🥀✌🏻💔🤛🏼seemlessly he can play whatever, comedic role, to Dramedy, so I hope you regretted cutting him out of this film project. ✌🏻🎬💔🤛🏼Cause your a Real Dumb A-- take that to the bank & stuff it... 🤟🏼💔🎬🎞️🎞️🎞️🎞️✂️✌🏻

I just saw this movie for the first time and I agree that they should have left this scene in. Afterall, they showed Holly apologizing to Denise for not returning her calls so they should have shown this,too. Maybe the promise was that Gerry would give him his guitar one day!

@Echelonninja Thx for the info. I had no idea he was from the states. It still gets to me when I hear Hugh Laurie speaking perfect American English then hearing his Brit accent when he gives interviews or I catch him on a program where he's in the film, documentary, series (ie. I Bit of Fry & Laurie). He has a great grasp on both so I gather he's had major voice training to fake such an accent but in House MD, his Brit accent comes out when he says some words or uses a Brit word not used here.
@PaisleyPlace13 жыл бұрын
@axhfan James Marsters accent isn't missing totally. I can hear it in the undertones. It's also there throughout the movie in specific scenes. However, bear in mind that I spent 10+ yrs working as medical transcriptionist for a large teaching hospital. Over time as an MT you learn to develop and ear for sounds, changes in tone, & even specific dialects that are tells as to where a person grew up. I've got a Georgia accent b/c that's where I learned to talk & it's set by the age of 3-5yrs old.

I was wondering where John's letter was and I love the way he put her in her place. He wasn't mean or angry about it, like Denise or Sharon just matter of fact "you think you're the only one hurting? Look around."

@Ketch67 Mr. Marsters and Kathy Bates were definitely the highlights of the movie for what little of the film they were in it. It was a fairly bad movie, but there are some funny bits here and there. I'd recommend renting it or borrowing it from a friend if you would like to see it for yourself.

I think it has something to do with their limo driving business. When Gerry died, he left the entire thing to John. At least, I think that's what he's talking about. ^_~

I believe that Jerry promised that he and his friend would become successful together with their limousine business. By giving the friend full ownership of the business after his death, Jerry is making sure that the promise can be kept after he's gone.

@axhfan An accent does "color" over time but the base accent remains the same. Both my kids have Georgia accents only the oldest's is not as strong as the youngest b/c she spent time in daycare & w/sitters while I worked where the little one was home w/me from the day she was born until she went to school in kindergarten. Her accent is too pronounced for her to lose it unless she goes through dialect training. Voice/Diction in college. Learned why I never lost my accent & how the girls got it.
