"I let the night unravel, forget my vain pursuits, except to let that grey rock gravel on your road beneath my boots." That is pure poetry, my friends. As is many a McMurtry verse.

Perfection. A criminally underrated musician/songwriter.

James McMurtry is right up there with Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and John Prine, as far as I'm concerned. Pete Levell used to play his music on his show, "The Back Porch," KLCC. Outlaw Country plays him lots, along with those others on my short list.

Love the capo setup. But more curious as to what tuning the guitar is in. Awesome stuff Mr. McMurtry.

A whole step down on the 6th string would be D as the 6th string is normally E. Are you talking about after it is already down to D then tune down again?
@greganderson30276 жыл бұрын
I'm trying to figure out the tuning. From the open strumming around the 4 minute mark, I'd say open D tuning, 6th string capo to E, and the added capo on the fifth fret to put it in key of G. I'll try playing along to the extent I can, but pretty sure it's open D. Looks like he does some quick I-IV chord changes in there.
