His Saturday nights at The Haç after it reopened in 91 were absolutely superb, his mixing and selections were second to none. Used to buy a tape of the previous week’s from him in the DJ booth for a £10.

wow, so unexpected!!! Two of my favourite, completely unrelated people in one podcast!! Huuuge fan of Parky, many nights at Hot to Trot, Basics, Hac in the early / mid 90s. . . cannot beat the original vibes. no phones, just fun! He's right about 'DJing' also. . . music is king, always will be.

The Hiroshima roadshow 😂 me and my mate were starlite roadshow 😂 I do miss those days - deck belts breaking because we couldn’t afford direct drive, bulbs going in the lights, people accidentally tripping over cables and kicking the plug out of the wall and the room going dark, weddings and newlywed arguments fixed with some Billy Ocean. Great times 😂 Saw Parky loads of times back in the day. Great bloke too.

Great episode. I used to go to the Hacienda in the mid 90's until it closed, great nights out. I also used to get Graeme Park/Hacienda mix tapes from Afflecks palace

We went to his Saturday nights pretty religiously from 91 to 93, it was the best night in the country for me, and we travelled all over too. He sold tapes of the last week’s set out of the DJ booth, so I used to have a big collection of them. Should have kept them really, but binned them off in the early 00s.

GP is and always will be Gold !! Himself and Mike Pickering brought House music to the UK... (don't be jealous London LoL)
@zeezee35138 күн бұрын
No they didn't, they played House music pretty much from it first coming into the UK. Colin Curtis and Mike Shaft were playing it out in Manchester before Pickering, Jonathan Woodliffe in Nottingham before Park.

I've always thought that Graeme was doing social media before the internet even existed .....the weekly chart that he posted in Selectadisc's window was essential to check out for inspiration, when doing the Friday afternoon trip round Nottingham's record shops..
