James Phelps talks on Endometriosis Awareness

James Phelps talked to Sky News about Endometriosis and how crucial it is to raise awareness about it.
He is running the London Marathon 2023 in support of Endometriosis UK to raise awareness as he says that only "68% of men know anything about it"..

As someone who has had symptoms of endometriosis since I was 14 (26 now), I really appreciate anyone going out of their way to raise awareness and support people with this disease. So many doctors still heavily rely on misinformation, and go on to spread that misinformation to their patients. These patients then are made to feel like they aren't feeling better because they "aren't doing enough", which is not the case at all. It has a way of making people feel absolutely hopeless, especially when pain and other debilitating symptoms are shrugged off by medical professionals. I live in the USA and was lucky enough to find a good specialist, but SO many people are denied that kind of care, and there are people worldwide who are suffering from this disease. Even though I'm young, there are absolutely times when a set of stairs feels like Mt. Everest, or it hurts just to stand/walk around the house, let alone run errands, tend to a household, or hold down a job. Treatments like medication, surgeries, or if necessary, physical therapy are all very expensive. It's very discouraging that this is a common disease, yet there's no cure; and so little is known about it, that as common as it is, it still goes massively undiagnosed or misdiagnosed. Respect for Phelps for seeing this as not just a "woman's issue" but an issue that affects individual lives, relationships, families, friends, etc.
