I am the woman who read the ESP cards. I have to set the record straight after reading these comments. We had to sign documents agreeing to the protocol of the tests. I agreed to read 10 decks of cards, and they were to be sealed when presented to me. They agreed that I could do the reading in a quiet place so I could concentrate. But instead, the producer came out with 250 loose cards at the start of my test, when the live show was going on. I protested, but she said, "They were sealed when we got them, but I went through them to make sure they were OK". This sounded fishy but I had no reason to doubt them at that point and I went ahead with the test. Instead of a quiet environment, there was a parade of people going in and out of the room I was in. After the show was over, I asked to see the cards I had read. They refused. Why? The show was over, there was no valid reason to deny me seeing the cards. Then a few days later, one of the other psychics called me and said that two stage hands came forward to say they witnessed tampering on the tests. We were all broke psychics and couldn't afford a lawyer to sue. I am a good psychic - I won Fantasy Five a few years ago (odds are greater than 1 in 500,000). I predicted the Loma Prieta quake, Kobe, Northridge, the 2004 quake and tsunami in the Indian Ocean, and many more. I made a good living for many years predicting the stock market , and I traded futures based solely on that. James Randi has been accused of cheating on his tests to psychics. He has based his career on debunking them and cannot allow them to win. Randi is the one you should be skeptical of.

LOL ... Sylvia Brown ... what a colossal failure of a "demonstration". My favorite is the part where she excuses her errors by saying that very often these things are "in the future". LOL. Nice one, Sylvia. That way, even when she's wrong, she's still "right". Then she finishes by only telling the last guy something that will happen in the future and never mentions his present or past. You know, when normal people have a hard time telling the difference between past and future, we call that a mental disorder, but psychics get a free pass because they have "SUPERNATURAL POWERS". What a joke.

What's interesting is the kind of act she was doing is very common, and not that hard to do successfully. She probably did this all the time with people who were prone to believe that psychics are real, and it worked well, because those audiences went along with her suggestive techniques or gave her the clues she needed to end up saying something they confirmed as true. It reveals some hubris on her part not to consider that doing her act on this show means she's got a crowd of skeptics, and it might not go well!

It proves that god knew that granting your wish, err, I mean prayer, was not what god planned to happen to you before he created you, created the universe, and of course created himself.

People like Sylvia Brown are not "psychics". She is just profiling people by the way they look, and goes off chance. Like the German guy clearly looked like some kind of sales man, the young girl obviously could of had a school friend with black hair that she did paper work with (oooh so profound), and she was soft spoken so she seemed like someone would be a counsellar. Asking an old guy if he knew a Bill? Like one of the most common American names? Really, anyone could go people watching and make these presumtions.

I miss this kind of professional, low-key presenting rather than the very tacky shrieking on so many programs these days. Subtle, scientific and with a touch of class, this is much more impressive. The jokes are actually funny because they are well made and mildly self deprecating. It may be a little outdated, but I appreciate the respect these presenters give the psychic challengers, even if the psychics do fail. You feel more valued as an audience member, because everything is presented logically, in a suitably respectful manner, politely. The challengers fail on their own basically tie themselves with their personally extended rope.

I know only a handful of tricks...my slight of hand isn't great... But spoon bending was one of the first tricks I learned. Stainless steel is a relitivly soft metal and becomes flexible when heated. The heat from your hands sofenes the weakest point and when you squeeze or wiggle it, it bends. You can do this with any metal utensil but stainless works nicely. You could actually warp a chopstick too but not as easily.

The problem here is if the psychic fails the test, there are no consequences. They would get a polite send off. To make the show more exciting and actually achieve its objective to debunk any paranormal powers, if the self-proclaimed psychic fails, he and she will be forced to participate in a gladiatorial type of a fight where the lone winner is allowed to leave. It's their second chance to use their psychic power to kill the others. More importantly, there won't be another show of its type because no one will dare coming onto the next show to prove that their power is real. Sylvia Brown in the show said about predicting the future. If she had said that she would die in 2013, then I would believe that she was indeed a psychic.
