What would YOU do with K♥ 9♥ on the flop? Your Stack (SB): 279,000 Their Stack (BB): 279,000 Pot: 48,000 Board: A♥ Q♥ 3♦ You bet 24,000, BB raises to 72,000 A) Fold B) Call C) Raise to 120,000 (small) D) Raise to 279,000 (all in)

I'd call and see what the turn brings. You have about 40% to hit the nut flush by the river. I don't put him on an A so I also may have 3 K's as outs. You also have some backdoor straights. This is about a coin flip or you might even be a slight favorite. You can't fold, thats way too nitty. A raise could put you all in with only K high and a flush draw in so why risk a raise? Float the call see what happens.

I like the shove on turn. As was said in the video, there might appear a lot of action killers on the River. +2 pair hand is more likely to call on the turn than on the river. Well played 🙂 This is the spot, where I sometimes forget to ship it all in. Then the opponent makes a slugish fold on the river.

I think in general turn is the place to get the money in isn't it. They say they might be behind, BUT you might be on a draw and also they might suck out. Behind + chance + chance = call. On the river it is behind, so fold.

Simple call, we probably have 0 fold equity on a raise even a jam (unless they have a worse heart draw in which case we definitely don't want them to fold) as far as odds we are given a direct price here and they are never getting away from a big hand so we even have a small amount of implied odds (though not much given stack sizes).

4:00 B. Absolutely calling here. Folding is way too weak with the nut flush draw on a non-paired board. 3-betting is terrible because we get steamrolled by the opponents value hands and allow them to get away from their bluffs. We'll just call and re-evaluate on the turn, maybe check-call turn and check-fold river if we miss.
@andrewbowers981
@andrewbowers981 3 жыл бұрын
Also forgot to mention payouts: playing 50BBs deep, two away from the money, having your opponent covered, and in this big of a field where people are going to get knocked out fast, you cannot be an ICM nit here when you have such a big draw. This is such a great chance to chip up in the tournament, and if you somehow get some unlucky full house over flush beat, just take your min cash and call it a day.

I think it's a difficult spot, and am tempted to say fold or jam all-in. Yes you made your flush, this time, but putting in a 5th of your stack and missing on the turn puts you in a world of hurt, and possibly losing 3/5 of your stack or everything if you go to the river and miss again.

I actually didn't give him credit for a big hand. He has so little for value (A3, 33, Q3s) and can have a lot of draws. If on top of this he can raise with just an ace (without having AK/AQ in his range), you have good reasons to 3bet jam here. Good fold equity, and king high can even be the best hand, you don't want to play passive and lose to some random JT turning a pair.
@conradcoolerfiend
@conradcoolerfiend 3 жыл бұрын
I had the same gut feeling as you initially, however i think there are less draws in his range than it feels like. Only flush draws make sense. and since the ace, king and queen and 9 are out, there are not that many draws. Only 1 combo of each: J10, J8, J7, 10 8, 10 7, 8 7, 8 6, 7 6, 6 5, 5 4, 4 3, 3 2. 12 combos. VS combos of value: 9 combos of A3, 2 combos of Q3s, 3 combos of 33, thats 14 combos. Add to that that he doesn't raise with the draws and AJ/A10 every time. So I think his range when he raises the flop is like 2/1 value to bluffs. In that case, calling is probably better? Plus, if he is on a FD, we dont want him to fold it out!

I had KsJs 5-10$ cash game. I had 1200$ villian had 440$ .Villian opened the pot with 35$ so he has a preety strong hand.. I knew.. So i called for the flop for my outs. The flop comes AsTS4d. I checked he puts 50$. So he has ace for sure AA or AK or AQ. So i called as I had a good equity. The turn came 7c. He shoves all in. Should I call? My equity b4 turn was ~50%. But after turn for the river it was ~25%. I did and i lost 440$😩

I think this is all or nothing here. You have to do the thing that will give you the best chance to win, and that is going all in to try and get the fold and then have a chance to hit the nuts if he calls. So to me its either all in or fold. I would evaluate the other players decision based on my table image for this session and also their style of play/experience level, and decide based on that. I'm talking about after the flop.

Folding isn't an option, jamming what are we trying to get called by, if he has a weaker flush draw, we want them to stay in. The pot is going to be 216K if we flat, leaving us with a 1:1 stack to pot ratio on the turn, so proceed cautiously, if we don't put any more chips in on the turn or river, we still have 34BB's.

I initially thought this was a call, because you hold 2 hearts which weights his range toward made hands. Also the board should be better for your range as the raiser, so he shouldn't have many bluff raises as you're not going to fold an ace when you raise blind vs blind. If he has mostly made hands, and he's disinclined to do anything suicidal on the bubble, then it seems like we should try to make our hand and get paid afterward. Even if we can't extract much value out of position once we get there, it's better than shoveling it in and getting shown AQo and then losing 95% of our stack 2/3 of the time. This was what I thought. But that's what he KNOWS I thought. And he didn't *have* ace-queen. What thick value can he really have on this flop? I don't think most people have a very robust strategy for 3-betting the flop, cash game donks such as myself always seem to do it with big hands on wet boards, and when they have monster draws themselves, especially OOP, to avoid miserable spots where they have to fold brick turns once they lose half their equity. But James is not a donk. He is the ultimate machine, so masculine. Tournament regs are more likely to bet-call with the strong draw because ICM suicide and such. So, maybe our villain is exploiting us, thinking he will raise-fold the bullshit such as he has here if we 3-bet jam the flop, because our 3-bet range will be too strong. Maybe he thinks we will call with all of our draws, even the strong ones, and shove only made hands. The disaster scenario is obviously where we bet-call and end up check-folding on the turn to the worse draw, which is obviously going to happen more often than not especially when both people are on the hearts. He owns our soul and crushes our poker dream and puts on glittering sunglasses and takes our women and we slowly become degenerate casino regulars because we didn't 3-bet the flop. Clearly I am at the stage of my poker career where if I thought long, I would have thought wrong! The exploit to his exploit is to jam the flop because you can't get exploited when you're all in with a bunch of equity. Are we bluff-catching with king-high? Probably not! Yeah, he could have made his flush and got paid by crying ace-king, but that was plan B. Plan A was to move us off our entire bet-call range on brick turns because he "shouldn't" be bluff-raising this flop. And it probably would have worked, except we overflushed him and he got fucked. But that's why I think shoving the flop now is a good idea. You could bet-call some worse flush draws.

Not that informative. You don't need to get super technical to get max value from flush over flush. There are so many lines of play that would have stacked the smaller flush here. It would have been better if villain had 2nd pair. Extracting max value from 2nd pair is a lot harder and more nuanced than extracting max value from smaller flushes.

you realize we are making decisions not knowing opponent's hand, and playing against their whole range, right? Your comment shows you are a beginner, which is OK! but review your comment and learn, cause it makes zero sense.

@@conradcoolerfiend Lol, nice condescending tone. That is fine and there were informative parts, but there aren't many tough decisions being made here except maybe the flop call after the 2bet. The point is, they can pick a different hand that will lead the more tougher decisions (due to different action from the villain). Stacking the opponent on the turn is something anyone can do and isn't very helpful to most people.

@@jo1717a it’s really funny how you think you know better than 2 world class players. The opponents actual 2 cards has nothing to do with the decision making process. That is some beginner logic right there. Don’t keep defending your noob position and embarrass yourself further. There is a reason they are making the teaching content and you are the one watching it.

@@conradcoolerfiend you seem incredibly confused. No where did I say their teaching was incorrect. I said they could have made it more informative by picking a better hand. What do you think is more helpful? Video of hero with AA stacking another player with KK or one where hero navigates tricky decisions with pocket 9s? You understand yet? You lack reading comprehension so this is my last reply to you. Waste of time.

@@jo1717a his point is that the hand the other player had didn't matter in either the execution of the hand or the analysis. He is playing his own range, and the villain is playing their own range, not the hands they have.

With respect,over analyze a situation that the 20% happened instantly and you had the nuts! Let's talk of the situation that the turn was a spade and how much of your stuck was into that pot hunting the nut flush

Poker is just luck. if it wasnt then you wouldnt see so many people trying to make money doing these stupid videos. it doesnt matter what you do. it matters what your opponents do and what cards come next. things you have no control over

Obviously everyone knows how to get value when they turn the nuts and hold on the river lmao it would be way more useful to make a video about how to play your draws when they miss. Learned absolutely nothing from this
