I'm so glad I managed to catch her on her first steam test, by pure chance too! The staff was very helpful, may this engine freely steam into the future, many more memories to come!

Huge congratulations to everyone involved with such a momentous project, once again proving that the Ffestiniog is still advancing despite the current issues that heritage railways as a whole are facing! Robert Fairlie would undoubtedly be proud that, 169 years on, people around the UK and indeed the world are still appreciating his unique design.

Fabulous, just fabulous!! (Great start out of TyB).

In those conditions? Little short of amazing. That Up line at T-y-B has got to be one of the horriblest* station exits on any adhesion railway ..... anywhere *It is now!!

Well despite the traditional weather in Blaenau (I know as I used to live there), this turned out to be a wonderful event for everyone present. What an amazing job to build such a fantastic engine that will help sustain the railway well into the future. The skills and knowledge of everyone involved have produced a stunning result. Da iawn paw. So glad I got to see it before it was named, the livery is superb.

With weather like that I think they'll be grateful to get the roof panel back in!

Wonder if there'll be a 'leader board' at Blodge for the fastest mount/dismount time for that removable roof panel? 🤔

Well done to the extended team of the Ffestiniog, and the rain rarely lets down a good occasion. It was really surprising to see the new engine was turned out as soon as it was. I had wondered if it would take to at least next year, but it's a credit all round to see it in true form and running. Regards, Samuel Farris.

Engine looks great, but it does need a much better deeper toned whistle, like the ones on Blanche, Earl of Merioneth and Merddin Emrys

Can we hear the bells first? Still wondering if they sound like a Welsh school bell, or as if the loco is entering the precinct of a US rail station!

It's actually Victorian Plum, not black, but in the poor light it does look black

Congratulations. All this pomp and ceremony, but no bell ringing?
@FfestiniogWelshHighland Жыл бұрын
The bell was ringing as it left the station if you listen hard.

A beautiful sight and a wonderful achievement, but I feel it would have ben a nice gesture to name it George Percival Spooner after its original designer

Cyflawniad gwych a phriodol bod enw Mr Spooner yn cael ei goffáu eto ar locomotif Ffestiniog.

Why does James Spooner have a bell?
@FfestiniogWelshHighland Жыл бұрын
It is a design cue taken from the original locomotive called James Spooner.
