I have begin to think season 2 is never to come ... it's been delayed several times now. Yet, there was covid so maybe it still come. Something wicked, this way comes. Is this version in the series? Can anyone explain to me why james broke up with zilpah so unexpectedly? dunno but to me it has always seemed like he truely loves her and couldn't forget her over years.. So why he dumped her after reunion? Don't see the reason.. 1. Wants to protect her because he's a wanted man? 2. Wants to hurt her, because she denied his affections at first? 3. Because he wanted to kill her and wants to protect her?

It was more like you recognized that the longer she stayed with him the more insane she was going to go. Remember after she killed her husband she went to James and told James that she had followed his orders but he never gave her any orders to kill her husband. James recognized that the illness his mother had she was now developing and that he was the trigger. It was all so hard for him because when they were making love he started to see his mother in his sister. He is protecting himself and her.

He didn't realize how his presence was effecting her and when he did. It was too late, she had already killed her husband and went to him gleefully to tell him. Though he did go to her after to consummate. During saw his mother and knew he was causing her to go insane. I however, would have loved to see Zilpha "let her hair down" and see the wild side of her. Her and James together in their "craziness" would have been great. Zilpha like a wild fledgling wild child. James knew this about her as he told her in his letters to her. She couldn't be tied down, she was to untamed for that life. But then she does exactly that and he dumps her... Made me mad! I do hope Oona returns for season 2.

And? That's the point of half the show. He/James was in love with his sister, and she with him. They were in a relationship when they were teens. He returned for HER and to get his fathers business back up so he could take HER and leave England. The entire show was about them, politics, and fighting against the government and what society deems acceptable and not. For him, he didn't care what society thought of him.
