In this insightful podcast episode, James interviews Wired editor Kevin Kelly on his latest book, Excellent Advice for Living: Wisdom I Wish I Knew Earlier. The conversation delves into various topics such as parenting by example, the genius of being the "only" rather than the "best", and the art of honing the skill of being a friend.
The conversation also explores the concept of working on ideas in 5-year segments - Kelly happens to do so against a 'doomsday clock' predicting how much longer he'll live. Bookending the interview, the two discuss Kevin's daily art project focused on creating new work each day with the assistance of conversational user interface AI and what Kevin learned about the technology's strengths and weaknesses throughout the process.

I appreciate the constant ask, "Can you give me an example?" That is a brave question during interviews, because not every guest is as smart as their book or as prepared as the interviewer to dig through the treasures of their work from the past for a prepared podcast throughline. However, it makes a good value proposition that if you intend to traffic on prior material, then you shouldn't forget the material - or it isn't worth remembering, and therefore worth buying.

James should interview people who have been scammed out of their life savings to see if the "trust tax" was worth it to them. If the trust tax is too high, it might take longer to recover and fully trust again.

I think my comment giving 16 ideas to help more people see these fab videos, like James mentioned in his recent podcast, with Dr Brian Keating was sadly deleted.

BTW , James, not everybody has a wife or husband for that matter… can we get away from that idea…just for a little while. Lots of us are single…married life is overrated 🌻🧡love your podcast anyway 🧡
