About JamesandKarla:
Hey everyone! We are husband-and-wife architectural/interior photographers based in NYC. We started our video channel to act an artistic intervention to help raise awareness of the importance of small independently-owned businesses and the unique character these shops add to the streets and neighborhoods of New York City.
In our videos we will showcase portraits of storefronts and shop owners in New York City & beyond and capture moments of city life that capture the spirit, energy and cultural diversity of individual neighborhoods. We also bring our dog, Hudson along whenever we can.
We made it our mission to thoroughly document unique 'mom-and-pop' stores when we began to notice the alarming rate at which they were disappearing. Thanks for the live-stream from Philadelphia. James, Karla and Hudson just arrived at Center City Train Station and walked around the station. Then they walked to their hotel. On the way, They talked about how they traveled 3 1/2 hours, three trains and 22 stops to get to Philadelphia. After they checked into their hotel “the Aloft”, they walked around the area took in the signs of Philadelphia. From talking pictures of Mom/pop shops, to going to places like Ben Franklin’s Post Office and admiring the architecture of the city, they really made a dent in such a short amount of time. Then they got to “The Shane Confectionary”. Which Karla loved. Then they went to a cheese steak place called “Sonny’s”, which barely had anything in their menu to offer. Afterwards, they ended the live-stream. Thank you guys so much for sharing this with us and please stay safe cool and dry and enjoy the rest of your night.

At minute 21:00, to your left is the CIA headquarters. At minute 22:14, the Eagles on Market street bridge, they are the Eagle statues that once stood above the main entrance of the original Penn Station. The Eagles were saved and brought to Philly and placed on that bridge.

Schuylkill is pronounced Skewkill. The name is prominent around Philly and stems from our original Dutch settlers.

You are forgiven for thinking it's Penn station. It seems like a lot of stations are either named Union or Penn. Also, it's not Amtrak, it's Amtreat!

Hello James and Karla. Enjoyed your livestream from Philadelphia today. Just wanted to suggest an architectural landmark - Wanamaker's department store, which is now a Macy's. It has an impressive atrium called the Grand Court. It's at 1300 Market Street, just southeast of City Hall. There's a photo on wikipedia under "Wanamaker's".

William Penn is on top of city hall, not Ben Franklin. There's a whole story about that statue and superstition about it with Philly sports teams.
