James, don't be like many sailors dreaming that they can earn more money when they get out of the Navy. You should stay in an attain the highest Enlisted rank, or apply in the Officer's Program. after 30 years, I retired from the Navy 2001 as a Masterchief at age 49. I;ve had three Command as CMC and my job also was in retention. After retirement from the Navy, i was hired by a civilian organization that performs equipment maintenance for the Navy. I am fully retired now and enjoying life with my family. God bless in your future endeavours.

Congratulations for making it through your enlistment. Getting out of the military is not an easy decision. Especially now that the US economy is not doing well. Looks like you already have plans to do great things in the civilian world. You can use your Navy experience and leadership to help you land that job that will make you happy. Or become an entrepreneur and work for yourself. I sure hope that full time vloger is your ultimate career goal. Whatever it is, just don't give up to achieve your dream. A few words of advice from a 30 year Navy veteran. Use your 911 GI bill wisely towards a good education that will improve your resume. I've seen too many young veterans who used their education benefits just to collect BAH and get through with life and came up with some worthless degree. There are lots of great advice and encouragements on this vlog, read them over at least couple of times. You may need some of them in the future. I like the retired CMC's comments and also the advice from a lady to look at Federal/Government jobs. You can buy your military service towards retirement and continue funding your TSP. Best of luck to you!!!

Tama ka po. dito nakakaipon ako ng halos 150 to 200k pesos a month kasi nag sasideline pa po ako pwera sa navy paycheck. Iba po satin, kahit bali bakiktar mo mundo, pag empleyado ka po sa pinas, wala pong mangyayari. Di po tugma ang sahod sa taas ng bilihin. 🙁

Veteran ako sa Desert Sheild / Storm bilang U.S. Navy rin so hindi ka pa siguradong napanganak noon at nasa early to mid 20's ako nuon medyo Tisoy din(quarter Italian/Greek from my father side with maternal side having Chinese Portugese Pinoy admixtures).. E4 lang ng nag honorable discharge ako after 3 yrs active tapos may 4 years reservist time ako noon.Tapos pumasok ako ng trabaho sa govyerno bilang California Correctional Officer (kung ang tawag ng karamihan 'Highly paid guard) at nakatapos ako ng 20 yrs ,happy camper ako ngayon bata pa ako nakaretire ako ng 50 yrs old (ten yrs ago).Madali makapasok sa mga govt career lalo na kung ikaw ay Military Veteran na kasi nga preferred nila ang Vets dito sa America over sa mga regular na applicants lang.. So double dipping ako talaga pension ko sa CA bilang CA state Retiree, tapos dagdag pa ng Veteran Disability & Compensation pay (free of tax for lifetime pa). Wala na ako pang hihilingin kundi pasalamat talaga sa Dios lagi!!

@@JamesBarrettVlogs Kung lumabas ka after ng term mo ma 4 o 3 yrs man lang mag apply ka sa California State Prison sa lugar ng gusto mo( L.A., San Diego,San Bruno, Tehachapi,S.F., San Quentin, Donovan at marami pa sa CA. Maganda ang benefits tapos malaki pa ang retirement mo kaya lang itinaas na nila ang edad ng minimum age na makapag retire from 50 yrs old noong panahon namin ngayon nasa 55-57 yata na. At huwag mong kalilimutan ng mag File ng Disability Claim sa Navy bago ka lumabas na at siguradohin mong nasa Patient Record mo talaga at humingi ka ng copya..

You have a great start James. Go for officers program and retire at 20 then move to a federal job. You will get full retirement plus VA disability compensation and Tricare Health care for all your dependents. Then add your salary from a GS job you will be living a comfortable life my friend. Staying in service is a safer bet.

Most of the guys I know from the US Navy worked there as cooks or taga-tungkab ng kalawang ng barko lol but the smart ones got promoted as officers. Then pag wala na sila sa service they used the skills they learned to find good-paying jobs. Malaki din ang benefits ng veterans.

The job/rates in the navy that you fall into primarily depends on the result of your ASVAB. The higher the score, the better options you have. The top scores normally get to choose between Nuclear or AECF (advanced electronics and computer field) and they get the higher signing bonus.

Depende sa rate E5 ka lang E8 anak ko mas malaki salary pa mga benifit Housing allowance hinde kasama sa salary ito .18 year na sa military. Ang housing allowance depende kung saan state ka nakatira dito sa Washinton D.C mataas ang standad ng living. Ang top secret clearance mas mataas sa clearance. Saka kung tops serect kailangan US citizen lang hinde puwede dual citizenship

I agree with you except sa dual citizenship. Kung pumasok ka sa service either you are a foreign citizen or US citizen, can't be dual. Your loyalty must be to one country alone. However, if you re-enlist, you must be a US citizen. Top secret clearance issuance depends on your job description, rank and you must also pass background check. Ganyan ang nangyari sa akin. I served for 24 years.

Normal Pension is only for servicememvers who retired and served 20 year from the service. However theres disability pension and thats for everyone who got out from the service and wants to claim monthly payment due to service connection disability. Payment depends on how much disability percentage that the VA will approve base on your case.
