So happy all the big VW pages are doing 07k stuff now. It doesn't get enough love

07k is a fun motor to swap in mk1s 2s and 3s its harder to make big power figures like the 1.8t and tsfi motors but are simple and super reliable I currently have a 07k and 02j from a 2006 beetle that will be going in a mk3 jetta 2.0 aba whenever the turbo aba gives up the ghost i run it constantly at 25psi😂😂 stock obd1 bottom end, head gasket spacer, custom short runner intake, larg ported head with big valves, springs, 282 degree cam, lots of work done to the combustion chamber, 78 mm turbo on a stock ecu with a SplitSecond maf modifier 440cc injectors 450lph pump and a snow performance water methanol kit, it’s kinda a send it build I wanna see what breaks, I broke a piston on 91 octane at 15psi, replaced pistons with a obd2 set and used vw 2.0 industrial engine piston rings, increased ring gap then switched to e85 now it’s been sold for 15,000 miles at 25-30psi probably right around 280-300hp. The 07k is going to be insane, more torque off the line once I figure out tuning me7 then I’ll go turbo and run 310-350 hp with way less lag the 2.0 takes a full 2-3 seconds to make 25psi

Agreed, the 07K is such an underrated and durable engine, also pretty powerfull for the cars it was put into. I have a 2.5 MK6 manual and I absolutely love it, it has almost 150k miles and still runs great

Update on that first motor (I ended up buying it from James a couple months back), I'm working on rebuilding it for some major power, managed to hunt down a new oil pump for it (shimmed for 85 psi) and the main caps and all of the mating surfaces ended up being pretty much perfect after having machine shop look it over and they gave it a clean bill of health. Definitely wouldn't have trusted it without having some folks look at it first though. Still saving up for some valvetrain bits and bobs but it's slowly progressing. I have to finish hunting down an audi 80/4000cs for it still though Hyped to see that rabbit running!

add the 200mm rear drums if you're putting the mk3 stuff on anyway. 10.1, 22mm master, and mk3 rear drums stops like whoa. the 2.5 5 cylinder is a swap I want to do, but the cost to put it in the 944 is still way too high.
@mattalkiАй бұрын
I still think you were nuts to pull the TDI right after getting it done, but I have to say the 5-cylinder swap is kinda neat. Nowadays, it's mostly a mk1 body on a whole mishmash of platforms, isn't it? 🤣

I do like the fact is that you VW ute has no plastic fantastic under the bonnet and it runs in Australia we never got VW utes like this infact l have seen one small VW ute in Australia and that was a South African import by the way they also like there utes in South Africa and this had a VW Golf grill bumper and headlights from the Mark one VW Golf that's how it was made but it had the VW Golf GTI red piping on the front and l was talking to the owner and he did an engine swap from a later VW Golf but with all the electronics he couldn't get his VW Golf ute to run and someone suggested to put LPG (liquid petroleum gas) that will confuse most Americans and his VW Golf ute running actually LPG is a bit hard to get now 15 years ago taxis were Ford Falcons and Holden Comadores were used as taxis and because LPG was half the price of petrol but most taxis are Toyota Camery Hybrids

Wait so you don’t have to switch the tank out when going from diesel to gas? I’m doing a 12c swap on my mk1 diesel and was told I have to drop the tank and buy a gas tank. Any truth to that or can I just drain, clean, and then use my diesel tank?
@JamesCooperiderАй бұрын
@@OJDoesHardlines Nope! If your tank is in good shape, there’s no sense in replacing it. Drain the diesel, rinse it with gasoline and it’ll be just fine. Trace amounts of diesel won’t hurt your 12V.
