Hi James. Bit of a struggle, well done getting through it! It certainly was a tad slippy-slidey underfoot. It was fun watching folks running like Bambi on ice when this old bloke had footwear fit for purpose (smug) Some folks (!?) wore road shoes! I have a theory why! 1) lack of planning - didn't take time to Google it. 2) expensive off road trainers. "I can't run on tarmac with these expensive beauties!" By the way - Lidl have some terrific off-roaders (£18) I bought 1 pair, would've been 2 but no more my size. Lovely long sleeved warm running tops - £8: two bought. I am blowing my own trumpet now, sorry. I didn't quite manage a negative split - but close. First in age category with a time that certainly wouldn't normally get first - shows how tricky underfoot it was! Here's to the coming year!

Rewatched: looked even harder.... and muddier! It is very satisfying tho isn't it? With the sea and the different terrains. Correct footwear and having the mindset of "right, this is an off-road event" plus keeping something back for the return half is the way to go. Are you considering it again?

Not really, The mud just takes too much out of me & both times I have done it, it's been far too wet. That splashing near the half way point kills it! I am cutting down on the Marathons, with that said, I haven't managed to do one this year due to the current situation. Will probably try and just do 2 a year, and do them as well as I can.

@@jamescruze08 That sounds sensible. Running is meant to be satisfying - which does entail getting tired and achey - but it is not meant to be downright miserable. So it's halfs and 10ks + parkruns in the main for you from now on, you'll be able to do lots more of them with just a couple of marathons to think about during the year! Keep up the vlogging I find them very useful....and keep greeting the dogs.
