I've often brought this poster up at talks, to explain the history of espresso (and to also explain how the idea of coffee shots was not exactly new...)
Hope you enjoy it.

My only issue with this video is that it’s not 2 hours long of pure coffee history with that narration. If you ever get inspired to kickstart a coffee documentary, I don’t think I would be the only one to sign up for that :p

I find it interesting how people will refer to espresso tradition as thoigh it goes far back into the past when in reality espresso as we know it is barely a hundred years old and has changed drastically from decade to decade. Thank you for the history lessons

Incredibly interesting, especially taking into consideration the artistic movement of Futurism that emerged around the same time in Italy. They were too fascinated with progress, technology and speed. I guess the invention of espresso is just another great example to help to understand and describe the sentiment of those times.

It's interesting that espresso is one of those very rare "age of steam" inventions which fundamentally works the same way now as when it was invented. I could very well imagine espresso being a failed invention that someone on Kickstarter would try to replicate in a janky way 100+ years later

LOVE this video James. Where do I start? There is heart and passion in every word of your script. Backed with elegant video snippets and historical diagrams/pictures to keep the viewer engaged. Historical, interesting and factual information shared in such a way? You've nailed it. I can't say enough good about this video. This is now my 5th time watching this video, I am left with one disadvantage it is left with. It is too short. Executed so perfectly. Engages so well. This makes me crave more as a consumer. You've made the 3:15 video pass by as if it was 4 seconds long!! Excellent. Keep up this amazing work.

I've been thinking about this old video a lot lately. I asked myself how keurig and pod brewers took over the world. And then I remembered the perspective of "old espresso" put froth from this video; the things it stood for, encapsulated within Cappiello's poster, and how it was originally just small servings of filter coffee made quickly. I think absolutely all of it applies to the modern home and office pod brewers dominating the world today. People still have a strong appetite for never slowing down.
