Another fantastic tutorial! Yes, I have to hit pause and rewind a lot-but I have had to do that on every tutorial and every medium I have worked with- part of the territory if you ask me! That means I am learning from someone who knows their medium very well- a true professional!

What I find helpful, is slowing down the speed of the video, it reduces the need to pause as much. It will take you a bit longer perhaps, but I find it to be most helpful! Cheers and happy painting 💛

I'm new to ProCreate and so pleased to have your tutorials, James. The landscapes are beautiful and you teach clearly and well. So grateful for the videos and especially for the use of stock ProCreate brushes rather than inviting us to buy your own to stand a chance of creating something as good as yours! Thanks again.

thank you for demonstrating beautifully: 1-artists make fixable mistakes - and - 2-step by step directions on how to fix it you could have just edited that part out - but you didn't - and i think that's excellent, sir. well done :)

Hi, James. I think you might have had an editing mistake in this one. From 3:47 to 4:18 you created layer 3, set soft airbrush to 10% size, 100% opacity, drew a stripe halfway, and blurred it 50%. Then, that layer seems to disappear, you create layer 3 again, set the soft airbrush to 8%/100%, drew a stripe halfway with three colors, and blurred it to 50%. It seems like you changed your mind about layer 3, but didn't get that part edited out. I had to watch a couple times to catch that, so it may have caused some confusion. Just wanted to give you a heads up, thanks!

The finished painting at the end looks different than the finished one shown at the beginning. Did you change the tone/colors of it? The one at the beginning looks a bit more muted, which I think makes the painting look better, almost like it's foggier. I wish you would have shown us how to color correct it or what you did differently.
@misutakitsune Жыл бұрын
I saw in one of your vídeos how to set the brush make it thinner at the ends while are drawing but I cant find it. I cant make the brunches thinner in the tips as you make in the video

What does the "ADD" actually do compared to "Normal"

tried following along but on the very first line, the soft brush 15%, when I set it for that it's just enormous compared to the line you make. I've reset the brush and double checked my canvas. I've certainly done your videos before but I'll be damed if I can figure out why it's so different.
@JamesJulier-Artist Жыл бұрын
Have you checked the dimensions of the canvas are set in mm and not pixels? Also at 300dpi
@ineptwizzard Жыл бұрын
@@JamesJulier-Artist Yup! But a lot of trial and error later, it seems to be related to the dynamic brush scaling. When I enabled that I got the results I'd expect. Lord knows why that had been disabled.

I tried following along. It was nearly impossible. I kept stopping the video and going back because I thought I was on the wrong layer. Very confusing and harder than I thought it would be. I’m an experienced artist and I wanted to learn how to use Procreate so that I’d be able to do artwork without using paints or other media. I can’t recommend this to anyone.
@JamesJulier-Artist Жыл бұрын
That’s a shame, I’ve already seen loads of great versions of this since posting this in my Facebook group earlier today. Still, blame the teacher lol guess you can’t help everyone 🤷♂️
@colinstamper7876 Жыл бұрын
I'd recommend not using these tutorials as a method to learn procreate itself. Get familiar with the program first and come back. I think you'll be surprised how easy it is to follow along at that point 😊👍
@carolynkepler2826 Жыл бұрын
I don’t think it’s your teaching, I think it’s the technology. I’m not usually intimidated by it. I get that the layers are a lot like the layers in any painting. I just found it confusing. I’m really disappointed in myself. I thought I’d finally found a good alternative for when I couldn’t do traditional painting. Still, I do enjoy your tutorials; I just won’t try to follow them.

What is the difference between gaussian blur and motion blur?after layer 10 I just realized that for several layers before, you use motion blur 🥲
@JamesJulier-Artist Жыл бұрын
Motion blur is directional so side to side or up down etc
