I don't think anyone really cares about that movie anymore. Sure the visuals were amazing for its time, but that's the only thing it really had going for it. Everything else about it was incredibly dull and generic. It was little more than a long tech demo that showcased how far VFX have come. It lived and died by hype. Visuals aren't enough for a movie to be placed among the greatest movies *of all time*, when the technologies used to make them become obsolete so quickly
@agonleed38416 жыл бұрын
@@Darticus42 see...thatndoest really make sense. I mean..the reason it's considered the greatest of all times is for the reason that you stated..in it's time it was awesome. Of course people found things better as time went along...but those movies mostly have duplicates. Other movies that incorporates the same ideas within the same time. Matrix came with a plot and visuals that were great and no one else did it that way. Like...the ps1 is considered the greatest console of all time...even though ps2, 3 and Xbox 360 and one does what it did and better. That doesn't take away from the fact that in its time it was innovative, creative, unique. All that earned it it's title. And people..like me who honestly thought we could never get anything better than the quality that ps1 games got....i don't even play those games much anymore. I play them...but I can admit that we have better quality now. That I may play them in passing and from nostalgia...but...i .ca enjoy it for...the time it was created. A time when it was the greatest. There are boxers who could beat Ali today. And there are dancers who can outdance Michael Jackson and basketball players who can probably break down Jordan, but we still call those people the greatest. That's because in their time...they were. And they brought something then that no one saw before. A quality that was innovative, new, or unique. And everything afterwards seems to be built upon their ideas. And so...maybe if it weren't for them...we wouldn't have the quality of games, movies, fighters, players, etc...today. You need to understand what makes something the greatest of all time. It's found in the concept.

@@thebest12700 I have been fascinated with the historical Titanic for years and have enjoyed many of the movies based on it including James Cameron 's. However I agree that the fictional characters of Jack and Rose do detract from the stories of the genuine people who endured the tragedy. Surely their stories are compelling enough as in the portrayed in the 1950s British movie "A night to remember ". James Cameron 's movie does have a tragically haunting music score I will admit that complemented the images stirred many years ago in my imagination of the great passenger liner sinking into the Atlantic on that night in April 1912.

That's the problem when a super amazing ending gets really well known, it loses all shock value. Like the ending of The Empire Strikes Back, who DOESN'T know its ending?

Someone told me I had to see it because there was a twist at the end. I guessed the twist well before it happened especially because I knew there was a big twist. I think I would've liked the movie better if I wasn't told there was a twist. I might have been able to guess it, but it would be more surprising because I still wouldn't have known anything about how it was going to end.

I worked at a movie theater when the movie came out. It blew me away personally. I would walk into random showings, just to see the audience reactions. They went crazy over the movie everytime. I never seen such a universal positive reaction for a film, ever. I think it had something for everyone. Even people who didn't really understand the story (which after talking to many people about it, were numerous) loved it.
