There's a reason Durant returned in Dark Man 2. There was a Robocop cartoon in which Boddicker "returned". In the cartoon, he hadn't died, so supposedly most of what was in the movie hadn't happened in the cartoon. Yet in the episode it was said that he had returned. If none of the movie happened, what did Boddicker return from? Anyway, Dark Man 2 was spoofing that with Durant's return.

Theory: Their is a multiverse of AVGNS out there. The one from the Shrek ep was our main universe’s AVGN and he has died. Now we are watching another AVGN from another universe.
