welcome to a short yet detailed guide to le sserafim! The members of the group, in order of age, are: Miyawaki Sakura (shoulder length black hair) (Japanese) (1998) Kim Chaewon (short bob cut black hair) (Korean) (2000) Huh Yunjin (long brown hair) (Korean-American) (2001) Nakamura Kazuha (long black hair, often in braids) (Japanese) (2003) Hong Eunchae (long black hair with the fringe) (Korean) (2006) Unlike English names, Korean, Japanese and many many other cultures have the surname before the given name. Sakura, Chaewon, Yunjin, Kazuha and Eunchae are their birth/given names, and you can call them by their given names. They're a fairly new group, having only debuted last year May 2nd. Their label is Source Music, a subsidiary of Hybe. Other Hybe groups include: BTS, NewJeans, Seventeen, Enhypen, Fromis9, Boynextdoor and &Team. All of these groups are kpop groups, with the exception of &Team who promote primarily in Japan. Le Sserrafim currently have 2 EPs, 1 Single and 1 full-length album out. They sing primarily in Korean, with the exception of 3 Japanese songs. Sakura, Chaewon and Yunjin often help write lyrics for their songs. Yunjin also releases solo music outside of Le Sserafim, under the name HUH YUNJIN. Personally, I love their entire discography. But if you would like immediate recommendations for more reactions, I would suggest: - Unforgiven - Antifragile And then you can explore their songs further if you like those too. If you want to know more about the members of Le Sserafim and how the group was formed, there is a documentary series on youtube released by their label. kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5vGe4KAoLODiNk It's a 4 part series, and this is the first episode. If you're still interested, here are some factoids about the individual members: Sakura: Sakura used to be in a Japanese idol group called AKB48. She debuted in a subunit of AKB48 called HKT48 when she was only 13 years old! Since then, she joined the K-pop group Iz*one through a Korean audition tv show called Produce 48 (sorta like how One Direction was formed from X-Factor). Iz*one was active from 2018-2021. It was always meant to be a temporary group though. After the 2.5 year Iz*one contract ended, Sakura was scouted by HYBE. This led her to debut in Le Sserafim a year later. ^ Chaewon: Like Sakura, Chaewon was a contestant on the tv show Produce 48. She made it into the final line-up of the group, Iz*one. After the group disbanded in 2021, she also got scouted by Hybe to form the foundations of the group that would become Le Sserafim. ^ Yunjin: Yunjin was also a contestant on Produce 48! But unlike Chaewon and Sakura, she did NOT survive til the finals, nor was she a member of Iz*one. She was raised in the US and is an opera singer. She was preparing to go back to school/university when she got scouted by Hybe to join Le Sserafim Kazuha: Did ballet for 15 years!!! She is 100% Japanese but attended a ballet academy in the Netherlands. She got into Hybe by auditioning and was chosen to become a member of Le Sserafim Eunchae: The youngest member of Le Sserafim, 16 years old! In addition to promoting as Le Sserafim, she also works as a tv presenter on the Korean music show, Music Bank (You can think of it like MTV). She interviews other artists who are performing and does a stellar job! ^^ You may have noticed that Sakura and Chaewon were with Hybe for around a year before debuting as Le Sserafim. This is because the kpop industry utilises the 'trainee' system. People who audition for or get scouted for a kpop company become trainees. This means they receive training such as vocal, dance, media training and foreign language lessons at the company they train in. The trainees have monthly evaluations where their abilities are judged by the higher-ups of the company. If the higher-ups like a trainee enough, the trainee then gets chosen to become a member of the debut line up. While Sakura, Chaewon and Yunjin were guaranteed spots in Le Sserafim, it took the company a while to find and choose the remaining members, Kazuha and Eunchae.
