Its cute to think Cher never wanted to perform without Sonny due to her shy nature. He made her open up to the legend she is today.

So me and my family (mom and dad) were on a roadtrip and on the road my dad put this song on. My dad looked at my mom and started singing and my mom started to sing too. They were singing together, to each other, like kids and I watched. Their love looked so pure, so undeniable. I sat there in the backseat and I just watched. Its one of my favorite memories of them.

Even after their divorce they remained very close. Cher gave the eulogy at his funeral. He really helped her become the Cher we have today. He saw SUPERSTAR in her from the start. RIP Sonny Bono. I'm so glad I saw their last performed together, of this song, on Late Night With David Letterman. It was so moving and sweet. Also the way she honors him in her live concerts, by doing a duet of this song with him, using clips of him singing his part, and she faces him and it's crazy how you still feel their connection like he's on that stage with her. Best part of her live show.

My cat got me through the darkest days as a fully fledged alcoholic. Always he was there when everyone else (rightly) had given me up for dead - two black pricked ears, a cuddle, a kiss, his food, and I even took him to the vet when I was not sober. He's still with me in recovery, he's the sweetest cat ever, and I used to sing this to him. ❤Jess.

Say what you want about Sonny. He was a delivery boy who hustled to get the deliveries at record companies so he could horn his way in to give them his songs. He knew he was no pop star himself and when he stumbled on a pretty young lady who had just lost her apartment; boom he made Cher. Also he was boning her when she was young and hot like in this clip. Anyone who turns a food delivery job into the Sonny and Cher show can look however he wants. I believe Cher felt the same way

I inherited my great aunts stereo system when she died in the 80s and I was a little kid. With it was this record. My mom said my great aunt used to sing along with it with her son who died when he was 16 , in a car crash in the 60s, before he died. She had kept it all that time. Then my mom and I listened to the record and sang along with it and it was kind of our song too. So it means a lot to me. It’s a beautiful song. ❤️

My friends and I would gather together to watch their TV show. We had the best music in the 60s. Of course our favorite group was the Beatles, but Sonny and Cher were always in the top 10. I was 10 years old in 1965 living in the San Fernando Valley California. I had parents and older brother who always listened to the pop radio stations in LA. I of course loved the Beatles, remember riding in the back of my parents Valient station wagon listening to "I want to hold your hand." My neighborhood friends spent our summers at the beach in Santa Monica with our transistor radios always with us. I remember hearing "I Got You Babe" all the time. As I got older, I sorta forgot about the song. But in 1991 when my middle brother got married and I was the best man, when I did the toast as best man's do, I had the DJ play the song as the first song they danced to. It was a great hit, people actually cried as they danced. I never thought it would be such a hit but it was.

[Verse 1: Sonny & Cher] They say we're young and we don't know We won't find out until we grow Well I don't know if all that's true Cause you got me, and baby I got you [Chorus: Sonny & Both] Babe I got you babe, I got you babe [Verse 2: Sonny & Cher] They say our love won't pay the rent Before it's earned, our money's all been spent I guess that's so, we don't have a pot But at least I'm sure of all the things we got [Chorus: Sonny & Both] Babe I got you babe, I got you babe [Verse 3: Sonny & Cher] I got flowers in the spring, I got you to wear my ring And when I'm sad, you're a clown And if I get scared, you're always around So let them say your hair's too long Cause I don't care, with you I can't go wrong Then put your little hand in mine There ain't no hill or mountain we can't climb [Chorus: Sonny & Both] Babe I got you babe, I got you babe [Bridge: Sonny & Cher] I got you to hold my hand I got you to understand I got you to walk with me I got you to talk with me I got you to kiss goodnight I got you to hold me tight I got you, I won't let go I got you to love me so [Chorus: Both] I got you babe I got you babe I got you babe I got you babe I got you babe

Back in about 1970 Sonny and Cher performed at the nightclub in the Playboy resort in Lake Geneva, WI for a week or so. At the end of their engagement, they put on a free show for all of the employees of the resort. That should tell you something about what kind of people they were.
