I’ve been running Rocket Ron 27.5x2.8 for 3 years with over 6k miles on my 2019/2021 hardtails and 2019/2020 stumpjumpers but I have not seen one that went past 900g. Mine are Addix Speedgrip that weighs in around 793-818g. I’ve used at least 8 and I have 4 new in stock. I love these tires because I get the grip I want and it rolls fast (rear tire only). I’ve taken it to Downieville few times. No flats (knock on wood).

Ordered a pair of these for my Trek Marlin 7 in 29x2.1. I have had a hard time finding a tire that can hold traction on old forest roads while still being durable enough in gravel and not too much rolling resistance on pavement. I was set on trying Maxxis this year, but these seemed to have everything I wanted for a good price.

I lovem. They came stock on my roscoe 8. Roll real good and have tons of grip. Definitely a tire you can go from tarmac to trail with no worries. They feel even better once you go tubeless also.

These punctured really easy setup tubeless. The sealant wouldn’t take care of a very small hole. Ended up putting a tube in. Low traction on small chunk gravel

Excellent ride, fast and grippy! Same experience here regarding a puncture not wanting to seal when running tubeless, though I suspect this was due to the puncture being a little bit big. Was fresh sealant (refilled a few days before the ride). Can't complain about toughness, I've ridden 2000+ kms mostly pushing hard on single trail and only one puncture so far.

I have these on my Roscoe 8. Can I run 27.5X2.6” instead of the 2.8”? Will I notice a difference in resistance?

I think a 2.6 will cause the BB to be to low

Jamesthebikeguy Why would that happen if it’s still the 27.5 inch size tire? I’m still learning how these things work thanks for the response!

Anyone have any experience with switching from these to maxxis? My roscoe 6 came with these and maybe I don't have enough experience yet but these don't feel like they get a lot of traction, especially in berms. Considering maxxis minions. Any thoughts?

I have a 6 as well and I can confirm these tires have hardly any wet traction at all. In dry conditions these tires are great and they really are fast rolling but I am trying specialized tires to see if any difference. Butcher/purgatory 2.6.

welp one fractured ankle later and recently very bad "road rash" recently i can say that they are pretty goon on the road but man all of that happened to me on somewhat loose dirt and somewhat loose gravel/tiny little pebbles cause it wasnt rock but tiny little pebbles/rocks, i always had to compensate and kinda drift sometimes i fell but today i fell and got supper bad road rash man kinda scared to ride my bike now cause of these tires on my Trek roscoe 6 :(

Did u crash on the road? Cus that happen to me. Its a very fast tire its fun but i did notice its slippery on tiny pebbles.

Any tire is slippery on tiny pebbles even super fat knoby dirt bike tires let alone these... Ya'll need to get out and ride more to get experienced, if you fall stop crying and get up to dust yourself and continue riding hard or start going to knitting classes... 😂

@@surfomzt Want a cookie ? A street oriented tire will have you slip and fall alot faster than a knoby tire on loose terrain. Minion Dhf's/recons FTW

He could of have said koalabee and I would of still be happy I just need the info in the tires b/c some of us need to trim weight out of our bikes or what’s the tire really rate it for. Pros and cons

When I hear “Plus size” I think of something other than bicycle tires. What comes to mind is clothing for fat people, you know those people who could bend wheels and break spokes. Perhaps we could change the “plus size” to something more fitting or perhaps “macho +” or “max 2”. Please make your suggestions men.
