Mock Test Bletchley | 4 serious faults

Today we are completing a mock driving test with one of my students(Martha) at Bletchley driving test centre. This driving test route is a difficult one and along the way you will see Martha make 4 serious driving test faults. At the end of the driving test route me and Martha sit down and talk about the mistakes that came up whilst she was driving on the driving test and come up with a plan to correct them.

Passed my test today at the ripe old age of 32. My warm up hour 7-8am was probably the worst I’d driven ever, but I managed to reset and pass with 2 minors (indicated too early, and took a corner a tad wide) your mock test videos and dealing with nerves/ how to pass videos have been a staple of my evenings the last couple of weeks so thank you! 🎉

Martha did the roman roundabout really well. It's what I failed on as I didn't practice it. Had the same show me question after the examiner asked me to wash the back windscreen and I apologised that I didn't know how (rental car)

9:29 There are a couple of blockers which would have made this roundabout a doddle if we happened to be nearer with our approach especially as they were blocking a very cumbersome truck from the right but that is just bad luck. Just after that our view is blocked by a car to our right, just need to wait. At 10:00 a potential blocker appears and at 10:02 we probably could have gone if we felt Tesla was blocked out. We move off at 10.04 and have never looked left or straight in the previous few seconds. We move off looking right adding lots of lock because we have lost situational awareness.

Hi james, at 5:08 as you said satnav is not working, in the start it was telling about the roundabout quite late, like you passed the roundabout road sign and then it tells you take the first exit, it that something always happen or satnav should tell us before we see the sign of roundabout, because if satnav says take the 2nd exit at the round about ahead then students can correct which lanes to enter into roundabout but if the reverse then its gonna be a mess if its 4exit or 5 exit around about???? Also at 17:14 just right there the sigle road divides into two, can't we just switch lanes here using rare+right mirror+signal right??? Because we haven't entered roundabout yet????

Examiners will step in and give you guidance if the sat nav is confusing or very late with an instruction.

Classic case of this is a TEST and people feel pressurised. One mistake and people amplify it accordingly. This is when things start going wrong if you are still thinking about what has gone and that might be a minor mistake.

Keith, you are correct. Martha is a good driver and she was very disappointed with herself for letting the mistakes continue. But she has learned a lot from this. Thanks for commenting

That is so true, on mock test it was so hard for me to just move on and fully focused on driving once I did something that may have been wrong or was wrong for sure. You just dwell on it for next couple of minutes when there is no time for it. Test should include stops called “sit for a minute and think what you just did” 😅
