This is the most beautiful campsite in Wyoming. After having been to the Grand Tetons multiple times, I was looking to explore a different part of the state. I never even realized the Wind River Range was a thing until randomly scrolling on google maps and then doing some research. I found it to be absolutely amazing, and decided to stop in the Tetons for a single night to then explore the Wind River Range for a week.
This amazing camping area is the Green River Lake's.

Thanks I appreciate it, I’m planning on heading back next year. So much less crowded than the Teton’s, the Wind River is spectacular!

Ive camped there many of times. The road is horrible washboard took two hours to go 20 miles. It is beautiful though. There are several great day hikes and more if you want of course. Slide lake and the natural bridge. Opposite side of the lake from porcupine pass. The video footage was beautiful.

Thanks mate! I did the same thing before I went full-time and soaked up as much information as possible.

That is almost positively a homesteader's home and out outbuildings. I also wish the history of such places could be preserved. At this point in time there more than likely people still alive that know that history, but someday there won't be, I was born in Wyoming in 1960, spent most of life here and I have seen many, many of these cabins/buildings in my life. Very cool stuff!

There was no signs I was able to find identifying what it was exactly. I was cool for sure, I spent an hour or two checking out the old buildings and stuff laying around!

@@JamesVonwiegen There are allot of them scattered across Wyoming and the West. The trapper's cabins are pretty cool also. Very small and compact, 3/4 height doors that one has to duck to enter. Cool stuff!

Had to laugh at the two chairs. I do that also for security. It gives the impression there is another person around. I do it all the time but only needed it once when a couple of sketchy guys were asking odd questions about camping alone and for how long. I have two large goofy dogs that bark at first then look for attention. That didn't seem to deter them. It was only after I said my friend was out hunting and was due back at any minute. Maybe it was the thought of an armed person on "over watch" that convinced them to leave. Hope I didn't give up your secret! Great video thank you!

I think I read once that those cabins were from a guest ranch or dude ranch that operated there in the 1930's, but I am not sure.

I've read a few reviews of the green lakes and they all say how horrible the road is and 18 miles can take 1.5 - 2hrs .. in your opinion would I be ok pulling a trailer camper down this road?
@JamesVonwiegen
@JamesVonwiegen 9 ай бұрын
The road isn’t great but yes I would take a small trailer down there by going slow. There was some larger 5th wheels a few miles in. Aslong as it’s a small trailer or good suspension. If not there plenty of spots early into the road.

Although I think it looks amazing, I think flying a drone is illegal in the Winds.
@WKR79
@WKR79 Жыл бұрын
I don't think that could hold true. The "Winds" has no official boundary so would be impossible to enforce. Inside a wilderness boundary would be more likely, and possibly the forest boundary. Agree that the footage is amazing, and breathtaking really!

Inside yes I believe your 100% correct, these drone shots are outside of the restricted area, which is why I could only get a handful of shots since the drone was far away.

Enjoyed your video James. I'm heading that way fall of '24. Were you carrying bear spray?..I'm hearing that's certainly something you should consider out there.
