The 'what ifs' in this episode are crazy. What if Walt skipped 1 red light and got to the house a minute earlier? What if Jesse was a minute late for the meeting and saw the scary-looking guy just hanging with his daughter and concluded (rightly) there was no threat? Lowkey tho Skyler been wanting to cap Jesse since day 1 lol

Watching you talk about Jesse always reminds me of the one time I tried to get my dad to watch BB. He made it through maybe 4-5 episodes and then had to stop because, and I quote, "I feel bad for the kid and I get the feeling it's just gonna keep getting worse for him". Needless to say, it's a good thing he called it quits when he did...

Bill Burr has been doing stand up for 20+ years. He was famous when he did breaking bad, but he hadn’t blown up to the point he is at now. He just started watching the show very early on in its run. He fell in love with it so much he asked his agent if he could try to get on the show or at least get an audition.

With the state of media where so many shows work to "subvert expectations" to climax their stories, Breaking Bad broke the mold with foreshadowing major events well in advance (the plane crash, future ruined Walt). The journey to see how these foretold events unravel is what makes the show so compelling, because it's so good about how it gets to them. Saul Goodman's story is just as fascinating (if not better IMO) as Walter White.

Since you mentioned not being able to see anyone else as these characters, if you didnt know, AMC wanted either Matthew Broderick or John Cusack for the role of Walter White. Luckily Vince Gilligan was adamant about using Cranston who he knew from his days on the X-Files where Cranston did a guest spot. At the time, AMC thought Cranston was too much of a comedy actor and wouldn't be able to handle the dramatic parts. I'm sure they've never been so happy to be wrong.

I'm hoping with the praise he has been getting his appearance in the latest season of Black Mirror, Aaron Paul finally gets to be more than the Breaking Bad guy. It didn't really work out for him post-Breaking Bad, party due to what you mention that you can't really see anyone else in that role (also not great projects too) but he is incredible and I think Aaron Paul as Jesse is a top 5 ever TV performance

Matthew Broderick was originally one of the actors that was supposed to be cast as Walter White, which i thought was really weird at first. But he was also in this movie called "Election" which is about a teacher who's life starts falling apart over his hatred of an overachieving student, so i think he probably could have also done a pretty good job in this role, but the show defintely wouldn't have been the same at all

That was amazing acting by Aaron Paul. I'm pretty sure he had not acted much (mainly an extra in music videos, commercials and small roles in movies) before this show, and if that's the case, he delivered a powerhouse performance. Also you are so right about the color in this show. There are entire wiki pages (that sadly have better call saul spoilers), that detail the consistent and intentional use of color in this show, to display different emotions and themes. They thought every suit, every object, every room through to the last detail. It's honestly crazy. If I was a director, I don't think the intentional use of color and it's meanings, would have been on my mind, when crafting such a show.

@@robtintelnot9107 yeah I just looked it up. But still he had no professional training as an actor. He is delivering Oscar worthy performance in breaking bad, yet his resume was basically modeling, and extra/small roles in commercials, movies and music videos. How the casting people picked him out of the crowd of people doing the same thing, and landed on a goldmine, is beyond me.

despite my sympathies to Jesse, he is a deep character, one of the greatest in TV-show history but he is a rat. No matter how deep Walt dives in lies and disgusting things he did, he always cared about Jesse. Even in moments when Jesse blackmailed him or keep screwing things up and needed to silenced for good. And the whole thing with poisoning the boy were started because of Jesse's caricature sense of justice. And in the end he still rat Walter out. He is not the good person, he is just a victim of criminal more monstrous than him
