Who cares if people like clean beauty. It’s not bull shit. It’s not hurting anyone. I agree that a lot of chemical ingredients are safe but what’s the problem with going with more natural stuff and leaving most of the chemicals out. We could all do with less chemicals in our lives.
@JamesWelsh10 ай бұрын
But that’s the issue. Even the use of the word ‘chemical’ as if it’s a bad thing. Everything is a chemical. Clean beauty, with all due respect, is mostly bullshit. It relies on outdated and incorrect information that’s not based in science and does more harm than good by making people believe cosmetics they have easy and affordable access to are ‘dirty’ or filled with ‘toxic chemicals’ when in reality, natural ingreidnats are more likely to irritate your skin. Clean beauty pushes outdated and non-evidence backed claims like, chemicals enter our blood stream, chemical sunscreens are bad, parabens cause cancer. When in reality none of this is accurate. But because the media and these brands use these incorrect ideas to sell their products through fear, many people out there believe this is science fact. When it’s not. So I will have to disagree and say it’s hurting people and it is in fact a load of bull shit
@dresden12345610 ай бұрын
Water is a chemical. It's frankly a dangerous trend to demonise more complex scientific formulas while hyping up all things natural. Just because an ingredient exists in nature does not equal safe or better. But it does play into anti science propaganda we're witnessing nowadays. Clean beauty means nothing but adds negative connotations to the "chemical" products.

It's the issue when it is a claim made in an unregulated field with no proven benefits for the health, environment or Idk fair trade, to boost up the sales. They were obviously just trolling, maybe even trying to get viral by repeating the same outlandish review half a year later. Someone on the Ulta Subreddit said they threw out all their Sol de Janeiro items and were told they wasted all their products for no reason because the spider review was a joke.

When I used a certain fake tan I would get stung by a wasp or a bee, happened like 5 times I thought maybe it’s the tan until I had a think about it maybe it’s because I wear tan in the summer, I’m more likely to be showing more skin and I’m outside more so it’s more likely to encounter a bee, though I wonder if it’s freshly applied moisture maybe the spiders just gets stuck and bites because it can’t get away 🙈 I got a huge wasp stuck in my arm I guess my freshly applied tan was sticky!

random fact about fragrance and bees: isoamyl acetate is the compound bees use to provoke each other to sting in presence of a threat. It’s also a primary part of banana scented products (can be used in other fruit scents as well)! this can mean two things: one, bees have a higher chance of getting mad at you if you are using a banana scented or based product and two, an angry beehive will sometimes smell like bananas. 😛

I understand why the EU is limiting retinal for the concerns over overuse, but I don’t think they should legislate just because someone might be over using something. It’s being very overly cautious. And I am far too paranoid to trust the certification for what is considered green. It’s probably just my trust issues talking though. I guess we’ll see how well it works when it’s fully implemented.
@hannajung751210 ай бұрын
the thing is: the regulation serves to protect people that do not know better. basically: cosmetics you can get over the counter should be useable by everybody without them having to know exactly how and how often to use it. You can get higher percentages either by buying cosmetic ingredients to make your own cosmetics, or by getting a prescription by a dermatologist, which may not be covered by the health care system, but you still can get it this way. Since it is a so callled "privately paid" prescription you can get it even via those tele prescription services. So it mostly gets down to anybody wanting a higher percentage needing to show they talked to somebody who told them how to properly use it for their skin.

@hannajung751210 ай бұрын
@@pantherhealingthe thing is: the EU has another approach to these things. basically you have to demonstrate your product/ingredient is safe to be allowed to sell it. I disagree. Retinol IS effectively being banned because most people need to use a percentage over 0.3 to get sufficient results. Even in the US Retinols/ Vitamin A are regulated but in different categories based on the percentages, the higher the percentage the more likely you need to get a prescription from your doctor. Alpha Arbutin isn't regulated the precursor to hydroquinone which is. It interesting that they are regulating Kojic acid. As for Green Washing it started in Cleaning products and then it started to move into beauty and Skin care here sectors. I guess you could say hybrid and electric car along with MPG cars were marketed as "Greener" options but it's more about regulation and incentives for those types cars here in the US.

It’s complete bullshit yes sometimes it works but that doesn’t mean it’s because it’s “clean” honestly why would you scare people of other products when it own product is great

I don’t understand this whole “it’s like kryptonite to…” saying?!? Kryptonite was the one thing lethal to Superman….why would wolf spiders (or any spiders, for that matter) go full force toward something that will kill them? I’ve recently heard the saying used in other contexts as well. Am I missing something?

You make me laugh so much! We have the biggest spiders here in Australia without the cream LOL

Actually this is the maximum % allowed here in Brazil. I think it's a good thing, because a lot of people don't have access to information that has quality and reliability

Im from the UK so it's good we don't have those strict EU rules, but then again do we just establish our own rules, or do we copy the EU or US?

I wish that celebrities would just go back to launching perfumes again. There were so many affordable, nice options back then.

I believe that the spiders weren't attracted to the cream sexually, maybe it smells like something they like to eat? something like fruit flies being attarcted to bright colors in the summer or ants coming to bits of sugar? idk i'm not a chemist, nor do i know anything about bugs.

When you were talking about the EU restrictions you implied it would happen in the UK too (or I thought that's what you were implying by using the word "we") but we're not in the EU - surely their legislation no longer applies here?

The most hilarious part? Kryptonite is not and attractant in the DC comic world unless you're Luther who only likes it because it harms Superman. The phrase "is the kryptonite of" is really "is the one weakness (not as in "weak for" but as in "weak in defense against"). Heck leave Supes around enough Kryptonite for long enough and it will kill him. Not a great use by that initial poster of the complaint about the "spider attracting" cream.
