My first thought about the blush is that it may be one of those annoying peel-off labels on the bottom that has multiple layers, with the ingredients on the bottom layers. I've had drugstore products before that did this that annoyed the shit out of me, because once you peel them they just hang there and can't be flattened and re-stuck again. They then can't be set on their base without falling over, which is GREAT. So you end up pulling the whole label off, which gets rid of all of the info anyway, including things like the shade. God forbid you'd want to like, repurchase the same shade.

This group only cares about branding and branding is what they are being sold. 7:25 the wording is super smart. In deodorant you NEED the aluminium. So they mention the desire for having it in their products. Why wouldn’t we want necessary info easily accessible? I am really not trying to be a dick, but this just seems like stupidity on the behalf of consumers. It’s like we only care if people we like get rich, and we’ll do extra work & get less quality so they have more money to pay advertisers. Sephora had a series where they would teach certain groups of ppl how to do make up, it was supposed to serve people who might not have access or experience with makeup and who were in need of empowerment. I was part of their trans series and used as an example during their demos. The person doing my makeup publicly misgendered me the entire time, and never corrected it every time my peers or boss would intervene (our group was visiting from an LGBTQ center that I worked at). Apparently they had training beforehand but clearly it wasn’t working, I don’t even remember getting an apology besides from my boss (I could be mistaken though it was a while ago). So colour wise, there’s red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. Indigo isn’t always included in rainbows either (according to some sources, indigo was added by Issac Newton, and his reasoning to adding a 7th colour to the rainbow was to appease his religious beliefs since 7 is a holy number and 6 is the devils number - but I don’t know the validity of that claim.)

As long as the information specific to the singular unit I own is on the bottle (aka the batch number and expiration date) I'm fine with all the general information of the product being on the box. Things like volume/weight and ingredients are driving factors for my purchase itself, not for me using the product afterwards. I do assume that the ingredients can be found online though, just in case an adverse reaction were to suddenly happen.

Given that most people get into a tizzy when they hear a chemical referred to by its IUPAC name and don’t understand chemical interactions very well, I don’t think that information about ingredients is super necessary on the immediate packaging. Plus, in our digital age a lot of that information is available online even if someone got rid of the outer packaging. On the Jake Paul thing…. what are they on about with magnesium? Transdermal magnesium has never been fully proven iirc. Vitamin D is possible but magnesium seems like a stretch.

Maybe Sephora’s post is satire, highlighting the commercialism of brands that only support LGBTQ+ in June? Those brands have “no thoughts” and try to use vibe to get us to buy their crap.

Honestly, most of my skincare doesn't list ingredients on the actual product, only the cardboard packaging, and it bugs me that I recycle ♻️ the packaging, and have to Google the ingredients later. So, though it's not out of the ordinary to do what Chode did, I don't like it much. But I'll likely never use it tho, tbh.

Interesting how these influences choose which products to sell, Deodorant is NOT regulated by the FDA. Vitamins and supplements are either, you can launch them today yourself. Some other examples are skin moisturizers, perfumes, lipsticks, fingernail polishes, makeup, shampoos, permanent waves, hair colors, toothpastes, AND of course deodorants. These products and their ingredients are not subject to FDA premarket approval, except color additives (other than coal tar hair dyes). Easy fast cash

Deodorant is super expensive in the US. I was in Florida a couple of weeks ago and in Aldi, walgreens, CVS, publix, even Walmart, all of major European brands like dove and sure were a minimum of like 10$ before tax. It might be a regional thing but that’s what I experienced. Native was around 16$. So, I can imagine that there are deodorants other than wild that are 20$ or more. In Germany, we have generic deodorants for less than 1€, so I was incredibly surprised.

Regarding information on product packaging: a lot of people are saying they don’t need the ingredients listed or the other info, and you don’t need it in your day-to-day. It’s there for _just in case._ Most people won’t ever need the ingredients list but it should be there for those emergency situations. Don’t play with people’s wellbeing, better safe than sorry. There’s also the fact that having the ingredients list on the product itself puts more legal responsibility onto the company. There’s room for the website to be off slightly-I believe it has to be accurate for the majority of the product selling, which means if it’s reformulated and you buy an older product, the website won’t be correct for what you have. And systems for checking batch production dates are inconsistent across the globe and can be hard to navigate. But if it’s mandatory for it to be on the product packaging, then that means it has to be right for that specific product. Otherwise it’s this massive legal grey area which basically guarantees the consumer being fucked over if the company decides to be shady. Following that, leaving info off in order to make the product look good is horrible. As a society, we are constantly jeopardising our health for the sake of appearances (not wearing helmets on bikes/skateboards, high heels, not wearing respiratory masks/fumigating when using certain chemicals, etc) because we prioritise beauty over health and safety. I’m in the graphic/packaging design industry, and being able to design gorgeous things *within* certain requirements is the mark of a good designer. It takes more creativity to be inventive while following regulations than it does when you have complete freedom. Also, the Rhode blush packaging is fucking ugly lmao. And wasteful.

I know for one thing when it comes to native, you could get a stick of that from $10-$13 depending on where you go. I know for one thing they do have a bundle that you get around $20 plus which is not too bad and you do, the pricing of the sticks. Also goes the same way with the body washes, you can also save money on the bundle as well by having three of each.

Parabens are some of the best and safest preservatives that can be found in cosmetics and most of the time, in parabens free products, they get substituted with other preservatives that are less effective and less safe. We need preservatives in our products and there's nothing wrong with parabens. I personally stay away from paraben free products because I don't trust the substitutes

Why can't they put the information inside the packaging, like on the inside of the lid. I see that a lot with boxes, where they place the vital information and instructions (such as hair dye boxes) *inside* the box, and not on the outside.

i don't really care about the label stuff but what bothers me about the rhodes blush is how tiny the actual blush looks compared to the packaging. I have way smaller blush sticks (like the milk and fenty ones) that look like they contain at least double the product. If they wanted to go for something minimalistic with that amount of product why didn't they create something sleek that can actually fit in most people's pockets. It just seems totally thoughtless to the makeup buyer and user. Maybe they didn't put a weight label on the packaging because it would put people off buying what looks to be a tiny amount of blush in clunky packaging.

I’m all for giving Sephora a pass on this one. Two of my son’s best friends are currently transitioning and are beginning to be interested in makeup but have no experience and lack confidence. I have given them some names of trans and other queer MUAs on YT to watch; but, as for buying makeup that is right for them, I wasn’t sure where to send them. I happened to be in the Sephora in Rundle Mall in Adelaide and I ended up speaking to one of their MUAs (a gorgeous, friendly, very knowledgeable transgender woman) and she was amazing. I told them about my son’s two friends and she encouraged me to get them to come in and she’d be happy to help them out. They are both very shy and I am sure she’d make them feel very comfortable and confident. So, kudos Sephora! Everyone should be represented in makeup.

I would say its more common than you think for makeup products to not be labeled. A lot of products dont display on the actual product and only on the unicarton that theyre sold in. The best way to work around this is to keep an excel spreadsheet with any info you want to keep and mark date of opening and its expiry. I do this with all my makeup and skincare products so there is no secind guessing of when i purchased/opened a product & its 3/6/12/24/36 month expiry

the youthforia bit reminds me of an ad i saw on insta the other day for an "inclusive" clothing brand....that has no options for trans women and doesn't go past a size 3x (that's not even in all their clothes!!) it's really annoying and frustrating how many brands/companies love to throw around the word "inclusive" when it literally means nothing to them. and they think they're doing something revolutionary when other brands have been doing it for real for years. 🙄

Honestly the packaging is not my favorite though i didnt really think it looked dickish? Lol until now… i will say i find it odd they didnt do their classic dove gray and white colored packaging. Just a personal tiny pet peeve, i prefer the packaging of my products to look aesthetically similar in color or at least in the same realm of color story? (Glow recipe is the only exception because they have a very similar colored glass semi transparent bottles in complimentary sorbet colors with the same white rectangular label on all their products. )

the information can be on the package and on the product itself only a referral to it. rhode is not the first to handle it this way, it is pretty standard for all luxury brands. but anything to generate traffic by sensationalizing a non-existing scandal in the thumbnail, i guess

All I learned from this video is people like to attack celeb’s products because there’s a “target” people can go after. Mega beauty corporations like Loreal are constantly doing way worse than these celeb brands but somehow people are ok with that.
