I love the new round end goal tiles the most. They really change up the strategy.

I'm so excited about some of these new mechanisms! So unique and different from the base game!

I love that they are European birds, so I recognize a lot more of them :)

Played the expansion yesterday and it was seamless: just some new effects but the overall gameplay stays untouched! An easy expansion to add and you can use it even with new players, in my opinion.

love that the European birds make food and cards in hand better. In the base game I felt like eggs a bigger target to make points, all this birds help to encourage wetland and forest strategies, which I realli like

I love the sideways birds and the eagles that you can pay cards for instead of food.

I recently played a few solo games using ONLY the EE birds, and it was a lot of fun! Really changes up the strategy and how to build up different engines to generate points. The teal cards are tempting to play early, but they obviously don’t activate as often as brown cards, so you have to have more patience & sometimes planning for those engines to pay off. But when the do pay off, it’s very satisfying.

How do those cards play in solo mode where they give you a benefit based on your opponent's cubes on a certain area?
@jasonact2 жыл бұрын
@@jfed4948 The rulebook specifically says that for circumstances like that, “the Automa has the number of items being checked (or cubes on a certain area) equal to the number of Automa cubes on the current round goal tile.”

Really looking forward to getting my copy. Any tips for shuffling that giant stack of cards? :)

I separate them into smaller piles, shuffle those piles a little bit, then create new piles and shuffle them a little bit.

I hope you do a expansion for each continent..... Australia has a very diverse and unique bird population. Also, we have some of the best bird artists in the world..... while I adore the art work in this game-its quality like Scythe-it would be wonderful for your company to commission an artist in each continent to do art for that geographic region.

Jamey, would you consider Madagascar for a future expansion? I can't imagine what a beautiful work could come out of that :)

Not Madagascar specifically, but Africa? Definitely!

Is the percentage stats at the bottom of the base game bonus cards still correct after mixing in the new expansion birds cards?

Hi Jamey, I've played Wingspan with the 1st expansion about 30-40 times. I'm looking foward to the Oceania expansion! I echo another commenter here that this seems like a solo game, not a lot of interaction so I'm glad to see Oceania will have the "copy another player's brown power" and such. I'm always frustrated that the final round is so short. It seems like there aren't enough plays to really accomplish much, especially if the goals for rounds 3 and 4 don't mesh well. Perhaps we could see longer rows or a 4th row in future expansions and extra cubes to allow longer play. One "problem" my daughter has with the game is that scoring is all done at the end. There's really no way to tell who is winning until they've won! There's so many ways to accumulate points that even scoring very well on the end round goals can still land you in last place. She finds this extremely frustrating, not sure how to fix it. Thanks for this game, it will be treasured and used by my family for many years! My 2 favorite things about this game are 1) it is "real", no sci-fi, witchcraft, zombies, gobblins, etc. And 2) it is "kind", no pirates stealing stuff, no killing each other, no plotting revenge, etc. I consider this to be a very good family game and these were my reasons for the initial purchase -- and it plays 5. 💞

Thanks for playing Wingspan, Barbara! The reason the rounds get shorter is because the turns get longer (you have a lot more birds to activate each turn at the end of the game than at the beginning). I'm curious about your daughter's frustration. What would she do with the information during the game if she knew everyone's scores at all times? I think the digital version may offer that, so she could give that a try.

@@jameystegmaier Thank you so much for replying! ☺ We just finished a game where the final goal was completed columns, I worked to be first in that round. But in the end, the totals for the end-round goals were all nearly equal. As I examined the final scores, it appeared the cached food on cards was actually the tipping point! Who knew that was even possible? Lol... This proves to be a fun game with different outcomes every time. You can't settle on one strategy and just do "that" every game. There's always a surprise. 👍
