Carrick would sit in front of the defense and just mop up and break up play and keep recycling possession. There’s a reason Sir Alex played Carrick every week alongside Scholes and that led to United’s double winning PL and UCL winning season in 07-08.

About the offside rule change. It would punish defences who play a high line and front foot football. They'd just end up dropping off further as the attackers would all stand offside and then run onside! My rule change would be to ban players for any 100% obvious dives or play acting. 5 game ban and it can be done retrospectively.
