That is so beautiful, Perry. Thanks for sharing. It IS possible to heal in life; to get over resentments and past hurts, even really powerful, life changing ones. I, too, reconciled with both my mother and father before they passed and our last few years together were really wonderful. I'm so thankful we were able to all grow to get to that place. Bless Eastwood, for making this powerful and sometimes hard to take meditation on healing and love.

We thought Clint Eastwood was old, even by middle age standards and out pops a new movie directed/actor by Clint Eastwood. Damn, when he passes, it will be like an end of an era. Just like when John Wayne passed, and some of the greats across the entertainment industry. I like to take this moment while Clint Eastwood is alive to communicate how much many love his life’s work.

This song and movie make me think of so much. It is proof that no matter how much in their ways someone can be, they can always change. It lets me know Family is so important. Don’t let them leave here before you can truly enjoy them being here. You always have friends in the places you never expected. God works in mysterious ways. I’m a Veteran with 2 tours in Iraq. I have been stuck in my ways before. And because of it I’ve driven so many people away and out of my life. And I regret it. But while I’m still here I can repair those relationships. This song gives me a clear reminder of that. Thank you

How can Clint Eastwood be this old and still be this menacing? Great movie and a great reinvention of the Eastwood persona. I had the privilege of seeing him being interviewed live in the 1980s and he was a charming and self-effacing guest. Gran Torino and Unforgiven are a concluding testament to his talent. The song is superb too! Thanks for posting
@gregwalker19133 жыл бұрын
I agree that Gran Torino and Unforgiven are a concluding testament to his talent. Except that he kept on making films. Most he directed, like Sully and Richard Jewell (which are great films) but The Mule is another very affecting performance by Clint. And, as we wait for the pandemic to come to an end, we have another new film in the pipeline. Here's hoping for more great things from Mr. Eastwood, in the new film Cry Macho. The man keeps surprising us, that's for sure.

This song brings a tear to my eye, it’s a good movie but it makes me remember when I was around 5 my dad had a 72 Torino and remember sitting in the back seat while he raced it through town, unfortunately it got stolen and totaled in a police chase, I remember crying when I seen it, when I was 15 my dad found another one in an open garage in the country, I asked the closest house and long story short I got it for $400(btw it was in 95) it was my first car, it was in really good condition, I restored it and only has 89,000 miles on it and one day I’m gonna give it to my son

One of the saddest moments of the movie is when he calls his son, just looking to make amends, and his son cannot even tell his dad is crying out.
@John-l8mАй бұрын
In the sons defense though: those calls often ended up with the dad (who, contrary to the Hollywood version was often drunk) telling the son he 'should have done this better, or shouldn't have done that the way he chose to) and while the son (a textbook example of 'adult children of alcoholics) learns to only half listen. You'll notice after he hangs up, for a second he realizes his dad's tone was softer, but then the trivia clutter of his own life washes back over him, and he trudges on... But you're right, a poignant scene for sure.

I think my no-cry streak of 2 years has ended, didn't have any tears come out during the song but there was a lingering wet sensation in my right eye and I rubbed it and there it was. Really hits when I think of November 2009 when my Dad showed me this movie and my Mom walked in near the end of it and she asked what the movie was rated and my Dad said "It's rated the same as your ass", XD. He's been gone since November, 2018. It was also great watching the classic Three Stooges with him over and over.

This movie personified what it was like to be apart of the Poles who built the auto industry in Detroit. I remember how stubborn the old timers were to leave, while their kids and grandkids grew up in the suburbs of Detroit. They were too proud to leave their homes and staying till the end. My grandfather's cousin just passed this year, not to far from the house where Walt Kowalski's house was in Highland Park. May their grit and hard working attitudes never be forgotten and forever be honored.
