You don't usually hear him swearing because he is doing tv interviews and knows he wouldn't get away with it. I expect this is how he talks in real life. For us celts, it is punctuation!

I loved 50 Shades, books and movies, although I resisted them for a long time because I let myself be swayed by the negative feedback. Finally, I just had to find out what all the fuss was about, and read the first book. I found it moving because of the love story, engaging because of Christian's psychological issues, and of course, there was all the sex (!). I went on to finish reading the series. When the movies came out, I thought both lead actors did a wonderful job of bringing their characters to life. I have since watched other movies featuring each actor, and count myself amount their fans. It is beyond tiresome that 50 Shades is still (or ever was) disparaged because of the sexual content. There's so much more there to appreciate, for those whose minds and hearts are open. ♥️

That's exactly what I think about the movie watching the relationship between JD and DJ on the set and how they evolve into a family and the psychology behind it I think it was well thought out they are both great actors I watched Dakota in Peanut butter Falcon I will definitely be watching Belfast

Beautifully said. I got hooked on the movies during lockdown, the "negative feedback" swaying me also previously to pass on them. I love them, can't count how many times I've rewatched, usually fast forwarding the sex scenes for the repeated viewings. It's the romance of these two unlikely characters' love that's captivated me. I refer to the books to fill in the blanks for scenes which are of course abbreviated for the 2 hour or less movies. Haven't been able to get into the books themselves except for background. The actors are fantastic and I've become a huge fan of both, especially of Jamie because well...he's Jamie. LOL...and he took the biggest hit from critics. They crucified him. I've now watched most of his work and am even more impressed with his acting chops, but his interviews have made me greater impressed with the man.

I couldn’t agree more! They brought those books to life and they were both phenomenal! They are my all time favorite movies, and I’ve watched them countless times. Imagine that this was Dakota’s first starring role in a movie, and she handled this with such dignity and grace. Jamie wasn’t that experienced, either, and he was brilliant in them. I’ve learned that when critics love a movie, I’ll probably hate it. Lol!

I feel bad for Jamie sometimes. He’s fetishised because of his role in 50 shades and is seen as just a pretty face. He’s so much more. As an Irish man he’s witty and charismatic and down to earth. He’s also extremely talented, very intelligent and incredibly self-aware. His talent is under-appreciated and I’m glad he’s finally getting the recognition he deserves.

He was a top model photographed in briefs and less for Abercrombie and Fitch before Fifty Shades. But you are right, it is odd he is uncomfortable being photographed for a profession. I suspect since he leans to introversion he doesn’t enjoy it. If you want to erase his Fifty Shades image watch the series, The Fall. He loses the charm of the Christian character. He is an incredible actor. His step-mother says Anthropoid is the type of movie prefers. He did a sweet movie, Wild Mountain Thyme. with Emily Blunt, Christopher Walken and other actors you will recognize. They all sing the title song. The Irish land is beautiful.

I'm so glad that he's not speaking disparagingly about his modeling career and no regrets about Fifty Shades which brought him to International fame. I resisted the movies for a long time based on the negative reviews by the critics. After finally seeing the movies during lock down, I honestly couldn't understand why they got those bad reviews. Jamie and Dakota are truly talented actors. Millions believed in that love story and that is exactly what those movies were about. Forget the simulated sex scenes, it was a love story. It's those fans from the Shades trilogy who follow his work in anything he does now. I'm not a fan of war movies, but I've watched Anthropoid and the Siege because of him in it. I wish now that's he's done all of those independent films, he would do something his fan's wanted.

I can feel how he was so unhappy doing his modeling for more than a decade as he came from a decent Irish family. He is right when he said it is a mad journey and doubled when he made the 50 shades trilogy. Although after this he has given a very good portfolio and his career continue to shine brighter. And at 40s, a brand ambassador of Loewe collections. That I would conclude as a lot of blessings to a good man, husband and father - MR. JAIMIE DORNAN ❤

Great interview. Intelligent questions.....smart and sincere answers. I'm glad the talks did not referred only to Fifty Shades ( so much talked about). After all Jamie Dornan is much more than Christian Grey...The range of the characters he portrayed in much wider and more significant...I've seen "Belfast", an entirely different Jamie Dornan and I loved it. When I saw Fifty Shades I was afraid Jamie would repeat that character and sort of movie for many years on. I 'm glad that did not happen and he changed the course of his options in favor of more difficult characters, complex characters requiring more acting than mere to-and-fro movement in front of the camera...

I searched and read the GQ article that accompanies this interview. Dornan is an actor that any interviewer can question into a corner with modeling and 50 Shades probes, especially in a short video interview. Yet the article also has nice observations from Kenneth Branagh who clearly knew what Dornan could offer in Belfast. The interviewer calls Dornan a "faraway fella." That is about the best description of him that I have read. There is something about him that seems layered, held back, and hidden. Yes, Dornan is good-looking (especially without the beard!), but so are a lot of actors, yet, Dornan has a presence that is, well, intriguing. The article is better than this interview because it has more colors and layers, and I suspect that is better suited to presenting Dornan, actor, and man.

Jamie wasn’t in Venice with Dakota is 2018 he was busy starring in 3 projects and promoting 4 projects. He wasn’t at any premiere with her for suspiria, he has seen her twice in the last 5 years for a few brief minutes, once at TIFF in September 2019 where she jumped on him in the afternoon, then an awkward moment at an event in the evening where she looked so bored. Then he bumped into her at Telluride 2021 where photographers asked for photos, they took a few awkward pictures and he turned around and walked away. She wasn’t with Jamie in Australia when he was there for 5 months with his wife Millie and their girls. Dakota has no kids, she’s said so numerous times and you call her a liar when you say she has kids. Jamie isn’t in Mexico, but he was there with his wife Millie and their kids in 2019 while filming another project. Dakota is with Chris Martin, has been since October 2017. You need to get your facts together and get your head out of your a$$

Just bc he doesnt tug his forelock in deference to fans doesnt mean he isn't grateful. This guy has a complicated relationship with fans given the way certain fans have behaved towards him, his wife, his children, his sibling. Unfortunately the rabid have spoiled it for the many, as usual, hence the reason why JD chooses not to bother with social media except to promote his movies or products he believes in. He seemed very uncomfortable this interview for some reason, wary of the interviewer.
