The skateboarding as an art form VERSUS sport debate is an industry battle originating in corporate America. The difference between the two industries being motivating factors, art form skaters will be skateboarding regardless of reward or recognition. Sport or competitive skateboarders may or may not solely be in it as a means to an end. All judgement aside, it's needless to say that it's not impossible for both to coexist. It's not worth ruining or losing friendships over who's better or what's better. 10 years from now the debate will still be going on because innovators will keep doing what they do while the corporate cycle starts again. Wish this show would actually focus on the week's skating - like it used to. Look at the order of events in this episode - at least 50% of it isn't directly related to the skating, and the clips that are, they breeze through the videos and barely talk about the actual clips (they're usually talking about something unrelated during it).

They did have iron during the era of the great cathedrals guys. Iron. Ever heard of it? Yeah. They had it. They didn’t necessarily have steel (or else it wasnt widespread, maybe for Japanese swords and stuff but they weren’t building handrails out of it back then), they didn’t have sophisticated alloys, but they definitely had iron. Just good old, classic iron.

I reckon that's 100% a steel rail. It reminds of train tracks or the eiffel tower. The look, the sound it makes, and on the last frame of the last angle you can see it rivetted or bolted to the stone below, I don't think wood would be fixed that way. Also, I don't think an outdoor wooden barrier that old would have withstood weathering like that, it looks pristine 😄
